Now, a week after the folks whose Jesus was struck by lightning and burned to the ground, at that place on Interstate 75 between Dayton and Cincinnati, announced that they will place another giant Jesus statue up, and have set two artists to work on the project, here come the Poles announcing their intentions to erect a 108-foot-tall concrete and metal Jesus in Swiebodzin, Poland! The Polish jumbo Jesus will be a few yards taller than that Christ the Redeemer statue on that mountaintop in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. And Polish Jesus will cost 4 million zlotys (that's 1.45 million dollars.) The picture in the newspaper shows the head of the standing robed white figure topped by two crowns----one of thorns, the other a golden king's crown. I know it makes their congregations happy and all ... but seems like a waste of money. 1.45 million dollars .... could feed how many people in Africa, now? Just sayin'.... Of course who am I to judge? I waste plenty of money on things I don't need .... (Starbucks, for example) |
