Helpful Score: 3
Sean O'Banyon has risen far above his humble working class Boston roots to become a powerful Wall Street financier. He's successful, gorgeous, filthy rich and trusting of no one, least of all women. Back in Boston, nurse Lizzie Bond mourns the death of her landlord and crusty old neighbor, Eddie O'Banyon. When she notifies Mr. O'Banyon's next-of-kin about his death, she has no idea that the man she's talking to on the phone is a famous corporate baron. When he comes down to Boston to pack up his father's belongings, they find themselves drawn to each other. Sean is wary of women lusting after his money, but Lizzie only knows him as the son of her neighbor. This anonymity allows him to be himself around her and they spend time getting to know each other and gradually falling in love.
Of course the road to the HEA can't be totally smooth. Sean is hiding some major emotional issues from Lizzie, primarily the truth about his father. Although Lizzie knew him as a kind old neighbor - a sort of surrogate father figure - to Sean and his brothers, Eddie O'Banyon was the nightmare who destroyed their childhoods with alcohol-fueled physical abuse. The after-effects of this upbringing haunt them all still. Sean makes mistakes on more than one occasion because of his tendency to view all potential emotional entanglements through a lens of suspicion and mistrust. But Lizzie is a refreshingly open person who doesn't put up with crap and doesn't play the martyr.
Overall, an entertaining read and highly recommended.

Wall Street Financier Sean O'Banyon is a workaholic who has a reputation for making multi-million dollar deals. But when he gets a call telling him his father has died, he has to take a couple of days off work to make arrangements. That's when he meets Lizzie Bond, the tenant currently renting half of his father's duplex. Lizzie took care of Mr. O'Banyon when he got sick, and doesn't understand whey Sean never visited. But as she gets to know Sean, Lizzie realizes there is some serious chemistry between them.
I usually don't expect a lot from a category romance, but this one is now a favorite. Sean's abusive past has made him a driven man, always needing to be the best. It has also given him major trust issues. Lizzie is a caring person who has had a hard life, taking care of her mother who has some mental disabilities. You couldn't help rooting for this couple to get together and overcome the past. I also liked the introduction of Sean's two brothers and hope that this author will someday write their stories and finish the series. My rating: 5 Stars.

Another great read by Jessica Bird. Sean O'Banyon is a tough Wall St. deal maker who escaped an abusive home. When he's forced back to the duplex he grew up in by his estranged father's death he isn't looking for love or understanding. Somehow Lizzie Bond eases her way into his heart. She's a nurse who cared for his father while renting an apartment from him and Sean suspects her motives. After misunderstandings and heartbreak she forgives him when he agrees to work on the issues from his past. A page turning keeper!

Sean O'Banyon, a Wall Street deal-maker, didn't really care that his father had died, but he knew that someone needed to take care of things left behind. Back in Boston, he meets his father's neighbor/tenant, Lizzie Bond, and is smitten. He rethinks his policy of not doing relationships, with some missteps along the way.
