I definitely agree with, "Readers of her earlier novels, who can place this one in a wider context, should enjoy the book more than new readers who may be left cold by too-brief glimpses into too many hearts." And having read the earlier books at least twice each, until the book, "The Last Report on the Miracle of Little No Horse," this one was my favorite.
This book will not disappoint the fans of Erdrich's previous books. Her characters'lives interweave with the past, their Native culture and the spiritual core of their heritage. A wonderful story from my favorite author.
Tour de force by the leading woman of words of the First People of the Americas, part of a trilogy.
I have enjoyed many of Louise Erdrich's books and this one is no exception. It was an excllent read.
This is one of my favorite books by Louise Erdrich because of the main character Lipsha. At a crossroads in his life, Lipsha is summoned by his grandmother. He returns to the reservation and falls in love for the first time with Shawnee Ray. "A novel of spiritual depth, lyrical prose, and wild hope, The Bingo Palace explores the implications of the mystical element of chance in contemporary life"...
