What is classical about classical civilization. Classical civilization the author argues has deep roots in Afroasiatic cultures which have been systematically ignored since the 18th century. Bernal makes links between drama,poetry,myth,theological controversy, esoteric religion, philosophy,biography, language and the emergence of "modern scholarship"
