Pretty standard Showalter fare. Funny/snarky dialogue, lots of action, fairly decent for what it is. A quick, light, entertaining but eventually forgettable read. Every problem is solved by alien superpowers, and the characters are ready to get married after, maybe a couple of weeks of elapsed book time.
Just don't expect any depth.

Another good read by Gena Showalter. The second in a series, I waited a long time to read "BLUE's" story. I liked the fact that Black was gifted, but not paranormal. A nice change. Now I'm waiting to see if there will be a 3rd book in the series regarding their other friend who was taken.......
Loved the first one, this is Showalter at her worse. It's still better than a lot of books out there but I actually had to force myself to finish it (which has never happened before with one of her books).
The interaction between Blue and Evie was just filled with too much teenage angst. Do I hate him/her or do I want to nail him/her? Added in the "football" game and it was like high school drama with some explosives thrown in.
There was barely any humor in it, except when they gave Dallas the truth serum. That was the only funny scene. Everything else kind of fell flat and the dialogue was a little dumb.
If this wasn't part of the series, I would suggest skipping it.

This was a really good book. I had my doubts about Evie in the beginning but she truly did grow on me. Blue was pretty awesome his self. He was already pretty kick ass but his whole protective/in love side just makes him amazing. This couple is so great together I could read another full book about them. 4.5 Stars
Honestly, I wanted to like this book a lot. And I did, kinda but not as much as I wanted to.
I couldn't really feel the chemistry happen between Blue and Black in the beginning. They just seemed really annoying to me.
And Blue's incessent need to get Black out of his head was so annoying. It seemed like a plain old refrigerator reminded him of her and all he was trying to do in the first half of the book was to get her out of his head.
The world building.... There was none.
It seemed like Showalter just expected us to know what was going on and how the world was run. And since she didn't explain anything, all these random alien type creatures were popping up and she mentioned something about a New World Order. I was so lost in the sauce.
Usually in a series, the author gives you some backstory on what was going on but there really wasn't anything there.
The plot was not really engaging. It seemed like something she just tried to throw together. There was no twist and I seemed to be mixing up the villians in the book.
This book was a hot mess. And that is extremely disappointing for me since I love Gena Showalter...

Wow this was better then the first book and I loved it, it had many laugh out loud parts between Blue and him self, Evie and her self and between both Blue and Evie. We get to see a whole new side of Blue from his 'sleeping' habits to his true and hidden self he hid's from even his team leader Micheal but put Evie into the mix and we will see his heart and emotions as well his fears. Get get to see Evie overcome her insecurities with her parents and her self after what happened her he little sister and from her 'sleeping' habits when he attended college at a young age. But with Blue there Evie had to fight her mind and body to over come her grief and Blue helped her in more ways while Evie help Blue overcome his playboy statues.
I like this book.
