A crime is committed that connects to a cold case and Inspector Rebus decides to take it on and make the connections. Along the way he runs into plenty of walls and some danger as he is stepping on toes close to home. Meanwhile, his fixation on his job gets him kicked out by his lady love. It seems he is on the wrong side of everyone including the precinct. In the end, he brings the bad guys in and is forgiven by his lady love. Good story.
