"Black Friday" revolves around a mass terrorist plot concocted by bitter Vietnam War veterans who want vengeance against the United States government and society in general. The way to hit them where it really hurts was by attempting to strike a severe blow towards the U.S. Stock Market, and therefore, causing a crash that would severely hurt the U.S. economy. An interesting Pre 9/11 terrorist plot...Definitely not as good as previous books by Patterson.

Another great book by Patterson involving an elite militia force attempting to take Wall Street to it's knees. Fast-paced and exciting all throughout the book.

This is an early work of Patterson's. It was good, although not as good as the Alex Cross series. Still an enjoyable, albeit quick, read.

I regret to say that I have come late to Mr. Patterson's writing, and boy, was I in for a very pleasant surprize, and a helluva ride! A serious twist, that I did not see coming!

I thought this book was slow in the beginning. It isn't one of the best books James Patterson has written.

A courageous federal agent, a powerful and resourceful woman lawyer - only they can possibly stop the unspeakable from happening. New Yourk City is under siege by a secret militia group - and that's just the beginning of the relentless terror of Black Friday.

This to me was nothing like a James Patterson book. James Patterson books are generally page turners and this one was far from that. From the beginning I had a hard time getting into it. The premise is interesting, but didn't cause the normal suspense. I never finished the book and after the 9th chapter I put it back on my list.

Truly this is a personal opinion, but I didn't care for the book.

Not my favorite of Patterson's books. I really like his books, this one was more militia like. I prefer the story ones better. Unabridged 8 tapes

The breathtaking suspence of Kiss the Girls and the authenticity of N.Y.P.D. Blue: Welcome to James Patterson's classic superthriller, Black Friday. A courageous federal agent, a powerful and resourceful woman lawyer-only they can possibly stop the unspeakable from happening. New York City is under seige by a secret milita group- and that's just the beginning of the relentless terror of BLACK FRIDAY.

From Publishers Weekly: "While Patterson's thriller is slightly out-of-date with its Cold War setting, it remains dramatically contemporary in its vision of a stock market thrown into chaos when a group of saboteurs blows up several Wall Street institutions. Actor Fernandez's mellow reading allows the story to unfold unhurriedly, though too slowly for the first half. Arch Carroll, head of the CIA's antiterrorist division, and Caitlin Dylan, director of enforcement for the SEC, team up professionally, and later romantically, to locate the Wall Street terrorists before they strike again. Arch travels to Paris and back (unfortunately, Fernandez, who capably reproduces other accents, has a poor grasp of French pronunciation), as he finds himself on the trail of former colonel David Hudson and his ragtag band of vengeance-seeking Vietnam veterans." From AudioFile
Rare is the performer who can juggle multiple foreign accents fluidly. Stephen Lang somehow manages to keep well over a dozen ethnically diverse characters in the air as he narrates James Patterson's fast-paced international thriller about a conspiracy to disrupt the world's financial markets. As the story opens, a militia group known as "Green Band" detonates explosives in several key buildings in New York's financial district. They have no apparent motive or demand, and their link to an unseen international terrorist is ambiguous. It is up to Federal Agent Archer Carroll to unravel the plot before it unravels the Western world. The novel--an adaptation of an earlier Patterson book--bears minor anachronisms, but listeners won't mind as Lang's relentless pace and Patterson's storytelling guide them on this terrifying ride.

Long before 9/11, James Patterson wrote a thriller in which a para-military terrorist group bombed New York's stock market. There are ex-military characters, people in high places, drug dealers, CIA operatives and others - half working to solve the case and the others working to perpetuate it and continue the terrorist acts. Originally published as Black Market in 1986, you have to wonder if anyone involved in 9/11 had ever seen this book, because some of the ideas are similar. Scary thought!

Huge disappointment from Patterson. Political, conspiracies, terrorist, etc. just not my cup of tea and after 150 pages just couldn't go farther just too much of the above and not at all interesting.
