Connelly never disappoints. His Harry Bosch books carry the least amount of 'repeat material' of any I've read, each one is fresh and markedly different from the one before with plot twists and characters so alive you want to punch some and hug others. This tale gets far afield from the usual L.A. scene as the mystery behind an apparent suicide of a fellow cop is probed by Harry. Don't tell anyone you have it figured out until you've read the last chapter or you'll make a fool of yourself!

I love the Harry Bosch series. He's a great homicide detective in LA with a lot of baggage from his Viet Nam past. This novel involves the death of two LA cops and Harry catches the case. He follows a bloody string of murders from Hollywood down to the back alleys south of the border. This is a complex and compelling murder mystery in which Harry is likely to be one of the victims. Fast paced and well written.

Love, love, love nearly anything he writes. I was even intrigued enough to check out the artist Bosch's paintings and some of his history. Connelly's Harry Bosch is a very flawed character, and I love him. This is a good one.

Starts small and then slowly introduces the complications, complexities and angles. Then piece by piece it unravels those complexities and puts them together into a dramatic conclusion. A good, clever detective novel.

Second in the Harry Bosch series with Connelly's usual fast moving pace and twists and turns. Bit of a surprize at the end.

Good story, very involved, lots of detail. Moved a little slow in spots; overall a good read. Perhaps you will think the end was predictible, but I didn't figure it out. After I read it, I though "oh, I should have seen that coming". Enjoy!

A supposed suicide leads to dangerous commections and a lethal game.

This story was an intense mystery with lots of suspense. I liked the way Harry followed his instincts even when it meant possibly losing his job.

Crossing the line takes a new leap in this exciting tale of what happens when good cops go bad. Happy reading.

2nd book in the Harry Bosch series. Excellent, better than the first.
An early Connelly that shows his greatness well... and sets up lots of stuff for later books in the series. Classic LA cop stuff.
This is the first Harry Bosch book I read and started my love of this series.
great mystery book!
Murder, Hollywood Boulevard, danger
Love this series!!! A Harry Bosch book.
Second in the Harry Bosch series by Connolly. Good follow up to Black Echo.
number 2 for the Harry Bosch series.....I haven't found a bad one yet....right up there with the others!
good book another great one in the Harry Bosch Detective series
It's been a while since I read this book but what can I say about Detective Harry Bosch!! I am hooked!
The 2nd book in the Michael Connelly Harry Bosch series...and it was excellent...a little dark, maybe, a little sad...but then it is about police work. Had a good ending.
Another good book by Connelly. It's so hard to believe that so many twists and variations can come from one person's mind. This one's about a cop that keeps everyone guessing--is he a good cop or has he gone bad? Lots of intrigue.
Loved this book. Harry never disappoints.
Didn't much care for this one, I like Harry Bosch but this one was just too complicated and hard to follow and I don't like stories about Mexico or cartels or anything like that, so I quit about half way through from lack of interest.
Good but not his best.
Connelly's detective Harry Bosch is as good and flawed as ever in this 2nd "Harry Bosch" series. A really good story that's both sad and good at the same time. A different twist from the 1st story which I think is good - it doesn't depend upon the reader having to read the 1st book in the series.
Once the reader gets into the story, ideas form as to who the culprit is. But don't quit there - you'll be surprised when you get the the end.
Another great read from Mr. Connelly!

Another great read from Mr. Connelly!
An intricate plot but Connelly keeps it all rolling along with great story telling and interesting characters.
I love Michael Connelly and had trouble putting this book down!!
Another great Harry Bosch story.
Not quite as good as the first one, but still very good. Excellent work by Connelly in continuing the growth of the Harry Bosch character.
Great reading. This is the second of his books I have read and this was even better, more exciting and keeps you turning pages. The ending is surprising.
Another terrific entry in the Harry Bosch series. I'm racing off to get the next book pronto. Highly recommended.
Maverick detective Harry Bosch solves another one in yet another of Connelly's excellent crime novels. Great!!
Great read. Connelly, or should I say Bosch, never ceases to intrigue and amaze me!
The official report said sucide but in a city where murder is sport, Bosch isn't ready to blame the victim.
The Kansas City Star wrote "Connelly's Bosch could partner with John Sanford's Lucas Davenport. As fictional heroes, these '90s tough guys are a joy." I quoted the Star because I agree. Love the Harry Bosch books!! This one was great.
The official report read suicide. Harry Bosch didn't beleive it. Harry follows the trail of bloody murders trying to find the "glue to hold the facts together"
Harry Bosch, my hero
I enjoyed reading this book.
Good Bosh book till the end. The ending was confusing and all over the place. Story of Bosh investigating the death of a cop, first looked like sucide, but leads to big drug dealing from Mexico
Good Harry Bosch book;
I'm really loving the Bosch series!
GREAT addition to anyone's Harry Bosch saga!!! I read it in one night.
The second Harry Bosch book was a very good read. We learned a lot more about Harry's background which was very interesting. The book also had a great plot with lots of twists and turns and kept me interested until the very end. Looking forward to reading the next installment of the series.
Delighted to find this new series. I thoroughly enjoyed both the 1st and second - well written with compelling characters - and look forward to receiving the third.
Good read

Excellent. The first part of the Harry Bosch saga.
Good, in depth police procedural book with some good twists. A little slow at first but eventually gets moving quicker.
Excellent Harry Bosch who-dun-it!

Just found this series and am hooked. They are well written and have enough twists to keep you guessing. And I like Harry Bosch, the character. Have a feeling they will continue to get better and better.
great read
A Harry Bosch novel. Always great books, this is one of the better ones. Does Harry get to solve this one?
On Christmas day, Homicide Detective Harry Bosch learns of the apparent suicide of Narcotics officer Cal Moore. Headquarters want the investigation closed quickly and puts Harry on some other unsolved cases to keep him out of the way. But soon those cases are leading Harry to a string of murders, including an unidentified Hispanic male. As Harry tries to learn the identity of the victim, he finds ties to a synthetic drug called "Black Ice". This is the drug that Cal Moore was investigating at the time of his death. More and more it looks like Cal's death was not a suicide.
This is the second book in Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch series. There are a series of seemingly unrelated murders that Harry ties together throughout the book. This mystery has plenty of action, and some surprising twists and turns, especially in the second half. My rating: 4 Stars.

One of Michael Connelly's first books. Very Good!
Second book in the Harry Bosch series. Another great mystery by Connelly...a fellow LAPD apparently commits suicide, but Bosch isn't so sure. He is then drawn into solving the mystery surrounding his death. Great fast paced read!
Great read
Another good Connelly read. Pretty much reads as you'd expect, which, from him, is a very good read. Good story, well written.
Good read.
somehow I ordered two copies of the same book ;) so... actually haven't read yet, but will post a rating when I do.
