Helpful Score: 1
First let me say I liked Christine Warrens books, I've read most of them. But the last couple "prince charming doesn't live here" and "black magic woman" have not been her best work. In "black magic woman" I thought the character's were great, I always like strong lead women. I also like past characters making appearances, and they did in this book. I did find the story to be lacking in romance and very long winded. The book was only 300 pages, I think Ms. Warren could have cut 25 pages. She very, very descriptive to the point of being overly descriptive. This slowed the story down. The cover wasn't very interesting either, why no wings?
Black Magic Woman was disappointing. It never explained what a "Guardian" is, how they came to be or exactly what their calling is. No background information was given on either character and the relationship was weak. This book had great potential, the story idea would have been great if it had more substance.
Well done, fast paced.
I was not real thrilled with this one it started out pretty good but there was just so much that could have been done with the guardian and it really seemed lame and very drawn out. I really don't see where the characters fell in love or even really had a connection it just didn't really come together like the other stories almost like it was a forced book. If I am not mistaken the imp says in the beginning of the story that she was psychic or something nothing really added up and it almost felt like a wasted read. I just feel so much more could have been done with the characters and story.
New author I read. Worth reading
This starts out and the reception party for Daph's sister Danice and Mac. Daph finds a unwelcome imp at the party and try's to makes friends, but little did she know what this little red imp has in store for her at a bar he claims for she her the real side of the rest of the Others life, not the glamours ones of the rich but the blue collared ones. This is the same bar where she meets her future name Asher Grayson. Most of this story is a lot of action. Shes cursed by a voodoo priest and her world comes in a downfall and standing nest to her is her Guardian in his own right Asher has to protect her form the voodoo and from her self.
Another terrific script that kept me on the edge of my seat and eager to turn the next page. Not a terribly lengthy book but a very enjoyable read.
Luv her books!! :-)
