I looked forward to reading this book for some time. Kalen, so far, was my favorite in the series. I thought he would be quiet, mysterious, very scary, but inside had a very big heart. Turned out he was quite chatty, and not very scary or mysterious. Putting that aside, the book was still great; lots of action. 4 stars from me.
I had a hard time with this one because Kalen seemed so young (almost like a teenager, but I believe he is 23) plus the book surrounds his daddy issues which made him seemed even younger. Then you have Mac who is cool in the other books but in this one she kind of comes across as a cougar (don't mean that literally). It's not just she is significantly older than Kalen (given she was a practicing psychologist then became a physician's assistant, I put her at least at early 30's) but she acted a lot older than Mac. So all the sex scenes kind of gave me the creeps. The back and forth of their relationship was kind of high school-ish.
I liked the plot of the evil fae slowly taking over and seducing Kalen though. It was interesting to see if his new found faith with his friends would hold.
Overall, okay read.

This is the book about the sorcerer/shifter Kalen and it was very good. I am really loving the Alpha Pack novels and cannot wait for Hunter's Heart to come out in September. Why so long a wait ? ! Kudos to J. D. Tyler in creating a sexy team of shifters who secretly save the world from all things supernatural. Kalen and Mac face what seem like impossible odds to be together on the side of good and light. I so love a dark and troubled hero.
