Where do I start? I just picked up this 600+ page book and could not put it down. Aside from creating a very creditable world of magic and adventure, where you both know and don't know who all the players are. Yes, you can not predict this pretzely plot, even with a road map. And, maddeningly enough, it is the first of a trilogy that should become a fantasy/magic/war and gore/action/adventure that will keep your eyes open and have you exclaiming "No Way!" at any given moment of each and every chapter. I just can't say enough about how thrilled I was to read such a storytelling master work and how bummed I was that I don't know when the next installment will be out. READ THIS ONE!
Bruce - reviewed The Black Prism (Lightbringer, Bk 1) on
Based on The Black Prism, the Lightbringer Trilogy is poised to be better than the very good Night Angel Trilogy. Brent Weeks has established himself as one of the premier fantasy novelists in the business. Just a great, fun book to read. Even if you don't normally read fantasy, I recommend this book.
I wan't sure that this could possible hold up to "The Angel Night" Trilogy, but as much as it pains me to say it since that was one of my favorite new books, Mr. Weeks has outdone himself on this set. I am dying to have the next book and - bad. bad. bad me - I pre=ordered it on Amazon because I had to have it!
This set I will be keeping. Just too good to give up. So many great books and so littl time - that is why you should read these!!! I truly mean that.
