Alice Walker's daughter, tells us of her unique experience of belonging to two worlds, and of having varying amounts of acceptance and non-acceptance in each one. After her parents divorce, she shifts from New York to California and back, spending two years at a time with each parent. That alone, along with the new friends, and new school each time, would add a measure of stress to anyone's life. That she has come through it all with her identity intact, is a miracle.
This is an interesting autobiography by the daughter of Alice Walker on growing up both in this country, trying to find her identity.
