A real Cussler adventure. "Clive Cussler" again manages to become a part of the story for a few pages and rescue the heroes. A very hard to put down book and definitiely one you don't want to get into just before bedtime!
Helpful Score: 3
This is a typical Clive Cussler book. In this story, he has taken a plot from WW II in which the Japanese were planning to launch a biological weapon on the United States. The plan goes awry and is lost for many decades. A power driven Korean discovers the plan and embarks upon a scheme to use this weapon to reunite the Koreas while striking a devastating blow upon the United States.
It is the task of Dirk Pitt Jr and Summer with some help from their father Dirk to foil the plot. They do it in the typical fast paced action style of Clive Cussler.

This is one of Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt novels--interestingly, Clive Cussler & his son wrote this book about Dirk Pitt & his son saving the world from a new biological virus in a lost Japaneses
WW II submarine that never made it to the US. It's a race with Pitt, his son, and a marine biologist named Summer against the enemy to find the sub and destroy the virus before the enemy finds the sub & unleashes it against the world. Very exciting!

I am a Dirk Pitt fan, so this book was a must for me! It is a bit different in that his children take center stage here and Dirk Senior is left with a lesser role, but it has all the action and intrigue of the other books with a little more sensitivy and love of the younger generation.

cheesy thriller. Falls way short of good stuff

This is an exciting Dirk Pitt novel. His grown children are the main characters.
good cussler story. pitt at his best.
very good - he is a marvelous writer
This is a fun (but like most of Clive's stuff) somewhat predictable book with a fun premise... Scary!
Another really good read! Do we expect anyless from Clive Cussler.
Dirk Pitt.... X 2! Nothing else to say!!
Two World War II Japanese subs carrying a biological virus threaten the world.
Once again, the Pitt's come to the rescue. This story involves mostly Dirk Pitt Jr. although his father does come into the picture. It was a little confusing at first, with the two Dirk's, until I realized it was Jr.
As always, lots of action and unbelievable exploits....

great book
This book is one of my favorites I've ever read and I give very few books 5 stars. Clive Cussler definitely has another winner here. If you like adventure novels, grab this one and prepare for a wild ride.
Dirk and Dirk, father and son, plus sister Sommer. Spoil a plot that could distroy the world population.
A long-lost weapon. A vilain of absolute evil. A world on the edge of annihilation. Enter Dirk Pitt... Black Wind. If your a Cussler fan then you won't be disappointed.
Another Dirk Pitt novel. They're always good!
Excellent! Once again, Cussler does it again!
A long lost weapon, a villain of absolute evil, a world on the edge of annihilation. Enter Dirk Pitt..... Impossible to resist.
Another Dirk Pitt novel that combines Japanese submarines and dangerous biological viruses.
Brings a breath of freshness back to the Pitt series which has been missing since "Atlantis Found."
Dirk Pitt, enjoyed very much.
Another book in the Clive Cussler series. During the last days of WWII, the Japanese sent two submarines to the American west coast with the intentions of unleashing biological warfare. Now, there are people who want to find one of these subs and gain possession of the virus and use them. Another good read from the master of suspense and intrigue.
"Cussler has no equal" Publisher's Weekly
"Harrowing encounters,close calls,daring exploits!" Booklist

If you like Clive Cussler I guess you'll like this book but I thought the dialogue was atrocious. People who've been Cussler fans for a long time tell me his son is taking over the franchise. Maybe that explains it.
I think different chapters were written by the 2 authors, and at times in the beginning it was a bit tedeous, but it eventually became a good read.
As usual, an excellent Dirk Pitt adventure.
for cussler fans
It hasgreat suspense and unbelievable imagination , this book is proof that Clive Cussler is one of the best!!
Great book. Mr. Cussler does it again!
Another action packed thriller from Clive Cussler and his son Dirk. It has all the mystery and intrigue of his previous works.
Lastes Dirk Pitt action packed adventure
Great action-packed read about Dirk Pitt, his Kids and NUMA, written by the Father Clive Cussler and his son Dirk Cussler.
Great Dirk Pitt adventure novel. Convoluted plotting.
The BLACK WIND is WWII Japan's fall-back plan after the Divine Wind Kamikazi suicide bombers aren't panicking the Allies enough to win the war. Secret plans were made to use submarines off America's West Coast. No plan is perfect, and few plans survive intact once they make contact with the enemy, but this plan encountered quite a few problems.
Decades later, NUMA adventurer Dirk Pitt is left to counter the repercussions of the BLACK WIND.

A Dirk Pitt Story that is action-packed yarn of land and sea based derring-do. A fun read.
Cussler at his best. very good read.
Excellent! Written with his son Dirk!
pretty good - usual cussler fare- interesting plot and situations but over the top
Great read!
Another typical Cussler thriller. Dirks son and daughter are new characters and add to the plot line.
I have always been a great fan of Clive Cussler. I have read many of his novels and have never been disappointed. Black Wind was a great read and I couldn't put down.
ANOTHER GREAT DIRK PITT SENIOR &JUNIOR ADVENTURE
good story.
From Publishers Weekly: "About halfway through this rip-snorting adventure thriller, a "white-haired man" rescues heroes Dirk Pitt Jr. and his sister, Summer, from death by drowning. That man is revealed to be author Cussler (Trojan Odyssey, etc.), reminding Dirk of "an older version of his own father," legendary oceanographer Dirk Pitt, hero of Cussler's previous novels. Just as the primary action baton is passed in this tale from Pitt Sr. to Jr., readers may note that Cussler's coauthor is his own son. But even if Cussler is beginning to pass on his writing baton, he's doing so with panache: thriller fans will revel in this action-packed yarn of land- and sea-based derring-do stuffed with technical details on matters from biochemical weapons "chimeras" to rocket launches. The villain is a South Korean industrialist working for the North Koreans with an eye toward unifying Korea by ridding the country of American troops, allowing for an invasion of the South. His plan is to aim a sea-borne rocket filled with a combo of deadly viruses at Los Angeles, with clues laying blame on Japanese terrorists, thus distracting America while the North makes its move. But villain and modus operandi matter less than the series of exciting hairbreadth escapes wrought by Dirks Jr. and Sr. and Summerincluding Dirk Sr.'s escape from being poached alive in a minisub trapped underneath massive rocket boosters spewing an inferno of flames. There's a slight, nasty gloss of "yellow peril" on the villain and his actions, and it's only the Americans who greet likely death with a grin and a quip, but that's a minor knock on some major entertainment that's bound toward the top of the charts." Latest in the Dirk Pitt series. This time Dirk's children, Dirk Jr. & Summer, are pitted against a North Korean plan to spread a deadly virus along the west coast of the U.S. Dirk & Al Giordino assist towards the end of the book. Clive Cussler himself makes an appearance to save Dirk's children. Non-stop action throughout the book.
Good story
great read...paperback
Great book! Lots of action! Author even incorporates himself into the book.
