This is one of Hall's best.
Incredible plot, storyline. I couldn't put it down. I am hesitant to let it go but know I can always borrow it back in a year or two to re-read.
James Lee Burke - No one has written more lyrically of the Gulf Sream since Ernest Hemingway. JH's lovely descriptions of the Florida Keys & Grand Bahama, his detailed knowledge of the sea & the hunt for giant blue marlin, his creation of fascinating characters & his obvious love of the natural world make this book a wonderful reading experience.

Pretty decent read. Not what I normally read, but it was fun nonetheless.
Typical James Hall; very readable and draws you quickly into the story. Starts off with a bang as a jet crashes into the water where the protagonist is boating. Pretty entertaining but gets a little goofy in spots like Hall's maybe chanelling a slightly intoxicated Carl Hiaasen. I dunno. This is the first book I've posted and by definition the first review I've written. I guess that's it...
thorn witnesses air crash helps out then family wants him to find out why plane crashed.
Excellent book. The suspense is total and complete, from beginning to end. I have found a new author!
Great read! Hall keeps you riveted to the very end!
BLACKWATER SOUND by James W. Hall: In the prologue, young Andy Braswell is killed in a tragic confrontation with a blue marlin. Now ten years later bone-fishing iconoclast Thorn is involved in a rescue operation after a passenger plane crash that leads him into the lunatic world of the Braswell family. The surviving Braswell children - psychopathic Johnny and dangerously beautiful Morgan - make an impressively deadly combination and their plans to market a terrifying device promises a reign of terror of awesome proportions. Overriding that story is an even greater one of the magnificent blue marlin, which the Braswells have hunted for a decade like Ahab after Moby Dick. Its a great sea story and possibly one of Halls best.
it comes out of nowwhere-an airliner silently dripping from the sky into the torpid shallows of florids's blackwater sound.Thorn witnesses the crash and pulls the survivors to safety, soon finding himself thrust into the media soptlight as a reluctant hero-and consumed by an elaborate conspiracy born out of the psychotic fantasied of a prminent florida family.but their link to the doomed Rio-bound flight only touches the surface of a private world of murder, power and revenge.
