Kit is a survivor. She had a hellish upbringing, running away when she was a teenager, and has managed to take her talents and make something of herself. Kit is probably the most realistic UF heroine I have ever read. She gets scared, she gets angry, and she doesn't have much of a flight response, choosing instead to fling herself headlong into danger. You'll notice I say choosing, because it is a choice. Kit does think, she weighs her options, but sometimes, you have to make a bad choice to get the good outcome. And that is a brave, brave thing to do. So when I say she is a survivor, I mean it, and in the best possible way. She makes hard choices, scary choices, because she knows it is the right thing to do. Even if she is afraid.
Damon - He's a love him or hate him kind of alpha, apparently. As I have no problem with "Baby Girl" as an endearment, I loved him. Yeah, he is a bit overbearing, but he's fighting this mad urge to...well, I don't want to spoil it, but let's just say he has his reasons to be a male part. He's a good guy, though. He cares for Kit, and he cares about Doyle, the boy they are searching for. His methods may not be ideal, but his heart is golden.
