The book started kinda slow. For the first 90 pages, we just read an analysis of what had happened in the first 8 pages of the book! Lots of characters were introduced at the start as well.

Once you get thru that, the tempo picks up. Main background is a mental institution. There's a catatonic escapee from a local cult group; she's pregnant and a killer is after her and the baby. There's also a minor plot where the cute cop falls for the head doctor.

Interesting story. Just would have been better if there had been more editing before it was mass produced in paperback.

Didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Everything seemed so slow and unless you like reading about a mental institution it moves just too slow so by the time I got half through I had to plough through the rest and really didn't care anymore what happened.

A dead boy, a pregnant catatonic Jane Doe, a mysterious cult, a psychologist & an ex-detective drawn together to solve the case that have to get past pain & distrust from a painful past; this book has plenty of characters all with their own stories & their own flaws.

The book offers you info & insights with plot turns & twists rather than just dumping it out there in a sudden character-realization. Nothing came easy or was just simply wrapped up with a bow without any effort on the writers/character's parts.

Not one of Nancy Bush's BEST books! Was rather disappointed that it took so long for me to really
get into the whole storyline.....got bored at a
few points and had to skim pages to get to the real
exciting parts.....which once you hit them it became
a more interesting book. Still......in my opinion it
was just NOT one of her best!
