This novel, by the author of JUMPER, REFLEX and HELM shows some of the same craftsmanship of the other books. It depicts a world very similar to today's, but after the oceans have risen 100 feet or so. Of course the rising water level has displaced millions upon millions of people.
I'd never known that 90% of the Earth's current population actually lives less than a hundred feet above sea level . . .

Interesting mystery set in the flooded future of the United States, nice romance also.

This is waterworld meets cyberpunk. A quick read with no major twists, but fun all the same.
I like Steven Gould's first two novels (Wildside & Jumper) more, but an "OK" Gould is still better than 90% of the other books out there. Alternating POV between the two main protagonists, one male and one female.
Steven Gould is best known for his YA (Jumper) books, but all his books for grown ups are wonderful. This is my favorite. It takes place in a future world, but the S-F is light, just a plot gimmick. The polar ice has melted, all of the Gulf Coast is under water, but life goes on and two people meet, share an adventure, and quote Shakespeare to each other. A beautifully written, witty book. I plan to give this book to friends for holiday gifts. If you worry that it might be dark and depressing - robots taking over the world, it's not like that at all! His other books stress science/engineering & I like that. He also writes about martial arts in two books. But this book is just fun to read.
Very good read. Characters and world very well done. Excellent, don't miss it.
