Paul Madriani is back for a 14th time in this series' newest entry, Blood Flag. It starts with Emma Brauer, accused of being responsible for the death of her father, a veteran of WW II. Shortly before he died, he received a mysterious package in the mail, containing what appears to be a safe deposit box key, left to him by another member of his military unit. When a second member of Brauer's former unit is also found to have died under mysterious circumstances shortly after receiving a similar package, Madriani realizes that these two murders very well could be connected by way of a talisman the unit may have had possession of, the infamous "Blood Flag" belonging to Adolf Hitler. Madriani must try to find out if this relic exists, keep his client out of jail and also figure out how his employee Sophie's death figures into the equation.

Blood Flag by Steve Martini mixes one history's most famous dictators, Adolf Hitler, with the hunt for the infamous Blood Flag. Martini has done his homework in creating a novel that is rich in historical fact, with a plot that entertains from the first page to the last. The Blood Flag was in fact a real flag, although its unknown if it still exists and if so, who has it. There is no doubt that neo-Nazi groups would do nearly anything to possess such an object. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and give it 4/5 stars.
