Things begin to become a little repetative by the third book in this series. The story is again very well thought out and the characters are well drawn. Many of the characters are on separate quests in this book which undermines the story as a whole. It was much more enjoyable when everybody was together fighting the central problem.

Richard takes his role as Master Rahl and must save all the Midlands from the Dream Walker -- even if it means usurping the Mother Confessor as ruler. Much better than book 2 of the series!

I love the way the author puts you in an imagination realm. It's like living there yourself.

Great adult fantasy series. Themes include, but are ont limited to sexual undertones as well as severe torture. A very good read if you do not mind these themes.

From Publishers Weekly
After unwittingly destroying the magical wards that had sealed off the Old World from the New for 3000 years, the war wizard Richard Cypher discovers that he has inadvertently created a gate through which the evil Keeper, Emperor Jagang, and his minions can enter the land. Separated from his beloved, the former Mother Confessor Kahlan Amnell, who is in hiding to avoid being executed by the people she once served, Richard must now accept the power of his father, Darken Rahl, and use all of his magical abilities to defeat Jagang, to save Kahlan and to close the gate. As in the two previous novels of The Sword of Truth fantasy cycle (Stone of Tears, etc.), Goodkind builds an intricate plot teeming with violence, treachery and intrigue. Newcomers to the series may find it a challenge to get up to speed, but once they do, they?as well as Goodkind's large, loyal readership?will delight in a complex epic fantasy that crackles with vigor and magical derring-do. Author tour.

I love this series, but want to point out that it's not for children. The series strays far from the TV show, The Legend of the Seeker. It has adult themes not suitable for children.

The 1st 3 books in this series are captivating. I'm not usually a Fantasy fan, but these really drew me in. I fell in love with the characters and couldn't put this book down.

I absolutely loved Terry Goodkind's series... up until the end. That being said, I loved each of the books individually, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good fantasy epic similar to Robert Jordan's series.

Unafraid to show various forms of torture, this is no light fantasy. But its a definite page turner, every boo in this series has had me up until i fnihsed it (one night i actually stayed up until 9 am, then realized the time, and rushed off to school!) If you like Anne Bishop you may also enjoy these books.

I adore the Sword of Truth Series. This is a good book, but not as good as Wizard's First Rule or Faith of the Fallen. However, it is a critical part in the story and not to be missed.

This series is interesting to me as they have The Seeker as a TV show which is very loosely based on the books. The books are better!
Not the best si-fi ever but certainly interesting and entertaining enough to continue on with the rest of the series.

Full of rape, torture, murder, blood and guts (literally). NOT good books, but very engaging. I was unable to put them down, and have lost a lot of sleep during the two months it took me to read the entire series. I cringed, I cried, I gasped, I had nightmares. I can't imagine what kind of twisted mind thinks up this kind of stuff.
In regards to the tv series based on these books DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. THEY ARE FULL OF CRAP THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BOOKS. I had to force myself to at least give them a chance, but was so pissed off within the first few minutes of the very first episode. I don't understand why the author had to butcher the story.
Anyway, read at your own discression. Not for kids or teenagers (or even a lot of adults :)

Captivating reading, great characters and storyline. Gets a bit intense with some of the violence.

Typical of Mr.Goodkind's writing, this novel is not only entertaining, but makes the readers reflect upon their own lives and experiences.

Love love love this series.....watched the two seasons of the Seeker on tv, and was hoooked. So far the only complaint I have is where is Kara? Will she ever show up....or did the show just make her up.

Book three of the series was just OK, for me. The plot was still very well thought out but this one dragged a bit and I couldn't wait to be done with it, so I could move on to the next one. I still think the series is great, I just enjoyed books 1 & 2 a bit better. Maybe it is because most of the main characters were split up in this book and I was just waiting for them to reunite. Still a good book and worth the read to continue in the series.

I can't remember anything really important happening in this book, I seem to remember it as a filler. At any rate, this series and author are my all time favorite (and I've read ALOT of books)Read them, it's worth it, the messages these books send are wonderful, of hope, trust, and most of all love. Richard tries to convey that life is precious and should never be wasted. Start with the first one "Wizard's First Rule" and see what I mean.
