This was a gooooood book! It was the kind that makes a person want to keep turning the pages. It was filled with just the right amount of suspense and mystery to keep your attention. I have been enjoying Greg Iles' books and so far he hasn't let me down. This one was no exception. If you are thinking about listening to this book, I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did. It was a great way to spend the day.
Cat Ferry is complex, crazy, and ridiculously strong, yet her vulnerability makes her believable and very likable. I did not want the book to end. There is a fascinating, eerie undercurrent throughout the book and the evocative descriptions had me smelling the roses in the heat, feeling the cold rain and the humidity, feeling physically exhausted, etc. At first I was skeptical and a bit nervous about a male author writing in first-person narrative as a female, bipolar character, but Iles pulled oit off. This is a fun thriller, but it's also an interesting sociological examination of the consquences of being a victim of sexual abuse
Wow, this book took me totally by surprise! Several twists that eventually brings the reader back to our heroin, Cat Ferry, and her childhood deep in the south. There seems to be two different storylines going on, but in the end, Cat, with the help of her married lover, a homicide detective, bring the stories together. A great read.
