This is an excellent book about diabetes. I think every diabetic should read this. It helped me understand the disease that took me by surprise as I am thin, with no family history of diabetes.

My gut told me that thin type-2 diabetics cannot be experiencing diabetes for the same reasons as obese type-2 diabetics. Most of the information provided by diabetes education is based on and aimed at these latter individuals, my doctor has based my treatment on the assumption that I have the same issues as a typical type-2 diabetic. This book provides science-based information about other subtypes of diabetes that will affect the type of treatment I will require going forward.

More importantly, the book helps explain how much a diabetic can help him/herself by changing diet and taking a much stricter approach to blood glucose control than that recommended by the ADA.
