With its ruby depths gleaming like fine rare wine, the Parkland Pendant was unparalleled in its exquisite beauty. Framed by an intricate filigree setting, it was the sole treasure remaining to lovely Elizabeth Larabee from her mother's fortune...and it was the one clue she had to ever finding her father, who owned the only matching jewel.
When the young beauty arrived in her father's hometown, she had no trouble discovering the second ruby -- in a ring worn by a handsome, brooding Peter Parkisham! Even though he was master of the Larabees' rival clan, and even though she didn't believe a word he said, Elizabeth couldn't deny the charged emotions he ignited deep within her. Still, she had to learn the truth about her family and her fortune -- before she loved Peter too much to ever want to know why he had stolen The Bloodstone Inheritance.

This is a rather twisted Gothic Romance. It keeps you guessing the whole time who is hampering the heroine's quest to know who her real father really is. The ending is a surprise and I never guessed how the events would unfold.
