This last tale in the Cole/Hitch series is another fun quick read(276 pages-large print, widely spaced). It is fairly predictable like the other three books Appaloosa, Resolution and Brimstone. I am a huge Robert B Parker fan and will miss his writing.

First book I've read by Parker. Its a fast read, all dialog, short sentences. Western theme. Not what I would consider great liturture, and no where as good as McMurtry books.

Excellent read! Classic Parker writing and the characters, Everett and Virgil are still true to form. The book begs to be finished but leaves you waiting for the next in the series..if there should be one...

I enjoyed this book as much as the previous ones Parker wrote. I am saddened that he is gone and will not be writing any more.

This was published after the author's death. I've read everything RBP wrote except "Sixkill" which was published after this book. There was a time when his work got four stars from me, and occasionally five, but his later work was becoming stale and boring. This book was slightly better than the last two I reviewed, but still not up to his earlier work. I'm sorry he's gone, but in his late work he was starting to show his age.
