I love this series, but this wasn't one of my favorites. There were many places the story sagged and got stuck in the morass of 'sexual tension'. Not sex mind you, just the desire for it by ... nearly everyone. It's not a bad book, just a departure from Anita thus far.
Good things: the new setting & chars, Richard is awesome, Anita gets some perspective on Jean-Claude. Not-so-great: a LOT of pointless foreplay that slowed the story way down and the wereleopards are back. LOL If those things don't bother you, you'll love this book! :)

A lot of people read the first four or five Anita Blake books and enjoyed them as they were - sort of peripheral romance with a lot of violence and action and supernatural stuff. Then at around the Killing Dance the books take a turn - more into romance, more into sex. At Blue Moon, the books are more about sex and the tension of the triumvirate than about a supernatural mystery with action and gore. LKH gets all that in there, too, but there really is a turning point here and she never goes back. The books from here forward become increasingly graphic, sexually, and cross further into multiple sex partners, violence and blood. If that doesn't appeal to you, you certainly will not enjoy this book or any of those that follow. Many readers are very angry with LKH for this change in the character and the stories but if you like that kind of thing, this is a good read. Introduces some new characters and some changes to current characters and relationships that you need to know if you continue the series.

Anita Blake #8
Richard gets arrested out of town for rape. Anita takes a small entourage to fix things. Except that the local vampires don't want her there. And the police want Richard out of town or dead. And the local trolls are being accused of killing people and everyone is about ready to hunt them down and kill them. And the local werewolves are stuck in the middle. And did I mention that the Blue Moon is only 5 days away? Just imagine the chaos. It's worse than that.

read it, loved it! If u feel a dark side to urself, ANita is great at channeling it without to much damage. But not if u are squimsh about ur sexuallity. I think u have to be very secure to read any more of the Anita books next in line.
