I love this series, but this wasn't one of my favorites. There were many places the story sagged and got stuck in the morass of 'sexual tension'. Not sex mind you, just the desire for it by ... nearly everyone. It's not a bad book, just a departure from Anita thus far.
Good things: the new setting & chars, Richard is awesome, Anita gets some perspective on Jean-Claude. Not-so-great: a LOT of pointless foreplay that slowed the story way down and the wereleopards are back. LOL If those things don't bother you, you'll love this book! :)

A lot of people read the first four or five Anita Blake books and enjoyed them as they were - sort of peripheral romance with a lot of violence and action and supernatural stuff. Then at around the Killing Dance the books take a turn - more into romance, more into sex. At Blue Moon, the books are more about sex and the tension of the triumvirate than about a supernatural mystery with action and gore. LKH gets all that in there, too, but there really is a turning point here and she never goes back. The books from here forward become increasingly graphic, sexually, and cross further into multiple sex partners, violence and blood. If that doesn't appeal to you, you certainly will not enjoy this book or any of those that follow. Many readers are very angry with LKH for this change in the character and the stories but if you like that kind of thing, this is a good read. Introduces some new characters and some changes to current characters and relationships that you need to know if you continue the series.

Anita Blake #8
Richard gets arrested out of town for rape. Anita takes a small entourage to fix things. Except that the local vampires don't want her there. And the police want Richard out of town or dead. And the local trolls are being accused of killing people and everyone is about ready to hunt them down and kill them. And the local werewolves are stuck in the middle. And did I mention that the Blue Moon is only 5 days away? Just imagine the chaos. It's worse than that.

I love the Anita Blake series, but didn't like this book so much. There was so much sexual tension - but not in a good way. It seems that all the leading men want to do Anita - Richard, Asher, Damian, Nathaniel, Jason. Not sure where the story is going and not sure if I'm going to like it.

read it, loved it! If u feel a dark side to urself, ANita is great at channeling it without to much damage. But not if u are squimsh about ur sexuallity. I think u have to be very secure to read any more of the Anita books next in line.

This book was another great one in the series. Anita tries to gain a better understanding of her growing power, but has "normal" reactions to the ways in which she needs to work with and control it. The story is very sensual and erotic and not for prudes. This is a story for those who know what to expect from vampires and such and not for those who are looking for a cozy, monogamous, everyday and warm-hearted read. In my opinion, the issues that Anita deals with can and do happen to a lot of people in the quest for that certain someone, and I like that Hamilton expresses it through her story. I look forward to the rest in the series!

It was very interesting to see how Anita's relationship with Richard changes in this book. I also found it pretty astounding that she let Damian take blood from her, especially with her seeming to not really like him much. I also am really digging the Jason character, he keeps things light, but at the same time gets Anita to think of serious things in a new perspective. I loved seeing how the Pard is changing some of Anita's way of thinking on aspects of herself and others in relationships. It was a great book, but I wish Richard wasn't acting so much like his nick name. :)

I really liked this one a lot. I'm beginning to like Jason even more and I'm getting to know Nathaniel a bit better. Too much Richard, though, and not enough Jean-Claude.

I did not like this book. It took a turn that I personally did not like. I am not sure where the series is heading, but I am a bit leary. It is pretty much all about Richard.

Anita Blake has an ex-fiance' who is a werewolf and a vampire lover. The current problem is that Richard has been arrested on an assault charge and the question of guilt or innocence does not matter....the fact that the full moon is on the rise does. What will Jean-Claude feel about Anita dropping everything to rescue her ex-fiance'? This series is an R-rated Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Always fast moving with lots of action and the relationships twist into knots around Anita.
Maybe the best Anita Blake story to date!

Wow! i really enjoyed this book! Even though it did not have very much Jean Claude in it, there was plenty of Richard to satisfy your romantic cravings. Once again, Anita proves herself to be worthy of such a high rank in both the were wolves and were leopards clan. You watch her become a little more comfortable with the members of the Pack and see strong relationships blossom. Her skills as a fighter continue to grow and she is becoming very powerful.I loved this book and it was so touching it made me cry twice. I just couldnt put it down!! The Anita Blake Series just keeps getting better and better!

A good book, but had some really grusome moments
Well having read 8 in the series...this so far has been the darkest. More supernatural with demons and good vs. evil. However, what is the evil and what is good? You have to be ready to go dark in this book.
I enjoy the growing antiicipation to learn more of her powers.
Lot's of sexual tension. I am off to book 9.

I for one throughly enjoyed this edition of the series maybe because i am a huge Richard fan but in this she was her old kick ass self for most of the time and she was with Richard for the first time here. The plot was good but i felt it could have been better if she had left the Cats at home they were more of a hinderance than a help especially nate I started to pray they would shoot him and when they did i was mad that she saved him but i was happy about her and Richard getting closer and seeming to mend their rift. All in all a good read.

Another good book by Laurell K. Hamilton. The ISBN matches but the cover is different than the one shown.

Another good Anita Blake novel.
"Richard was an alpha werewolf. It was his only serious flaw. We'd broken up after I'd seen him eat somebody." Still, you never forget your ex-fiance'. And when the call came at 3am, I thought for a moment it was him. It wasn't. It was his brother. And it wasn't good news. Apparently, the former love of my life had gotten himself thrown in jail for assaulting a woman. But though he was a monster, Richard would never harm a woman. I've just got a few days to figure out who is trying to frame him and why. There's a full moon coming, and if my werewolf love is still behind bars when it rises, he'll be facing a lot worse than an assault charge.
Love the book. I am really liking all of the Anita Blake books.

Redneck werewolves... that pretty much says it all. This story was so-so, not one of LKH's best. I wish she would stop being so squeamish and either go with her sexual insticts or stop being such a tease! SPOILER ALERT: Richard is back, so that's a good thing!
I love the Anita Blake series. I have read other Laurell series and the vampire hunter is my favorite.

Is Richard a good guy or bad guy? This is the theme of the book, and it becomes Anita's job to defend him when his pristine reputation gets threatened. This one focuses on her love/hate relationship with him, and is an excellent choice for Team Richard members.
The best book so far! (Maybe because Anita and Richard finally get together?)

I really love this book. The story has a lot of twists to it,it always keeps you guessing. I was sure after I had finished the Riley Jenson series no one could really capture my attention again but she has done a wonderful job with this series. I have read some other reviews about her books falling apart as the series goes on or to much detail but I like the detail. I have a vivid imagination and I can visualize most of what she describes. The whole series is great! This book is great I think the main character is a bit over demanding my way or the highway type personality but as the series grows so does she and it is like looking back at ourselves growing up through our lives and realizing things we have done that might not have been to fair. this is a general review I hate giving away the plot but I love this series! Thank you Ms. Hamilon and PBS for allowing me to get all the books to the series at a fraction of the price
