Very good story by one of my favorite authors! Although some may not like her "old-fashioned" wording, I appreciate the authenticity of the style for the era they were written in. The theme of this book, a young girl struggling with pressure by others to marry a man who has turned out not to be the man of character she always thought him to be. Her journey through this struggle is a timeless theme, and applicable to the life of anyone who is debating the merits of their relationships.

She'd loved him all her life, always dreamed they'd share the future--but someone was casting a shadow on their happiness.

Lynette was home to stay now, with a summertime of happiness to look forward to. Dana was back too, and Lynette was sure this would be their special summer--but something was very wrong. Dana has become so critical of her. And he seemed captivated by his family's house guest, a flashy, hard-eyed beauty from New York. What was happening to the sweet childhood romance everyone assumed would blossom into marriage?
