Catherine Anderson definitely is not a "typical" romance novelist as I think of a novelist to be - a sappy, mushy love story. She brings in characters of unconventional means and turns it into an almost hopeless story filled with some pain and angst, and it ends up being a wonderful romantic story that's more believe than a Harlequin type of story. Loved this book! :p

One of the Coulter stories. Hank is an unexpected father of an unborn child. Carly, just recovered from a rare eye disease, is now threatened again with blindness. Hank, in true Coulter style, browbeats Carly into marriage, then has the challenge to convince Carly love is worth the risk.

It is part of a great series!! A woman, blind from birth, has a surgery to restore her eyesight. Meets a man in a bar, has a one-night stand and ends up pregnant. The doctor tell her that the pregnancy may leave her blind again and the story takes off from there. The emotions in this book I felt as if it were happening to me. GREAT READ!!!

I LOVE this book. It was an emotionally moving piece.
Catherine Anderson is a great storyteller! When you are reading, you really feel like you know the people in the story.
Carly Adams has been blind since birth, and recently had her sight restored. On a chance encounter with Hank Coulter, her life is changed forever. So is Hank's.
There are many twists and turns in this story, but it will keep you interested. The story has a different slant to it because of Carly's blindness. It makes you appreciate that you can see!
I highly recommend this story, and any other book by Catherine Anderson.

A very good book. A set of circumstances led to other things. A woman who was blind had an operation and was able to see, met a man at a bar, she ended up getting pregnant, and the risk of her going blind during the pregnancy. An independent, stubborn woman and the man who took his responsibility seriously enter into an agreement to marry so she could have their baby and she would have surgery after the baby was born to restore her sight. The whole thing was a big risk for both. I was glad that the man was raised right and took that responsibility. At the time, he was in a carefree attitude and this was a serious wake up call for him. A very good read.
I am loving this series and this was one of the best I have read. Loved it!

However, her pregnancy threatens her eyesight, the cowboy marries her cause he loves her and stands by her through anything. A tearjerker!

This is my first Catherine Anderson book. I love it!! I now have two more of hers to read and one more on the way. I'm looking for more. She writes a great story about how a handicapped girl can find happiness.
This was a very good book, full of romance and I could hardly put it down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From Publishers Weekly: "Anderson (Sweet Nothings, etc.) again explores the ways in which a physical disability can impact a relationship in this moving contemporary romance, set in picaresque Crystal Falls, Ore. Blind since birth, Carly Adams is celebrating the surgical restoration of her sight with a friend at a Western bar when she meets rancher Hank Coulter. Hank plies Carly with liquor, intent on a one-night stand, but he gets more than he bargained for when he learns that their brief encounter has resulted in pregnancy. Neither consider abortion for a second even though pregnancy will have dire consequences for Carly's sight and her plans to attend graduate school. Nor does Carly worry that her child might inherit her condition, lattice dystrophy. Instead, Hank bullies her into marriage. Hank redeems himself as the story progresses, treating Carly with tender care as she deals with her pregnancy and her deteriorating sight, but his most daunting hurdle may be her emotional insecurities. It's evident that Anderson has thoroughly researched lattice dystrophy, and this, more than anything, will help readers gain a better understanding of Carly. The last-minute revelation that Carly was burned in a previous relationship feels superfluous, but readers will embrace Anderson's characters and her message-that love bridges all divides." From Booklist
Carly had to wait 28 years to see what a man looked like. Born with Lattice dystrophy, Carly's sight has only recently been restored; and to celebrate, she accompanies a friend to a bar. Unused to alcohol and the attention of a handsome cowboy, Carly lets Hank Coulter take her to his truck, but that humiliating experience not only leaves Carly not caring if she ever has sex or sees Hank again but pregnant as well, which threatens her sight. As soon as Hank finds out, he tries to convince Carly to let him help her. The two agree to a marriage in name only to solve Carly's financial problems, but Hank realizes that he's in love and sets out to do whatever it takes to turn their temporary arrangement into something permanent. Readers might need to wipe away tears as they read Anderson's latest contemporary romance featuring another of her Coulter brothers, since few will be able to resist the power of this beautifully emotional, wonderfully romantic love story. John Charles
My take:
A great book that really ties you to the characters. You want to see them succeed and fall in love.
