Her old friend Mrs. Bantry has called Miss Marple in again. It seems that the body of a dead blonde lies on the library floor, much to the chagrin of the servants. Miss Marple is only too happy to help, as there's nothing she likes better than nosing around in other people's business. Stephanie Cole manages just the right tone for this breezy story of English village life of sixty years ago. Taking you back to a simpler time and place, Cole performs with a chatty intimacy that lets you feel you might be at the next table overhearing (in true Miss Marple fashion) some intriguing goings-on.

My first Agatha Christie mystery, and I really enjoyed it. It's a really fast read and I thought the ending was a suprise. I look foward to reading more of Christie's work!

The early morning hours at Gossington Hall have taken a sinister turn. The body of a beautiful stranger has been discovered sprawled in front of Colonel Bantry's library hearth. Perfectly posed and dressed to the nines, the stylish blonde appears to have a natural flair for glamour-even in death. But why was she there? And who in Gossington Hall, wanted her death? Miss Jane Marple has her suspicions....

Fun Agatha Christie read.

In my opinion, one of the better Miss Marples. Not too many suspects to bog it down and an easy to follow investigation that gives you plenty of opportunity to form your own hypothesis on who-dunit (isn't that what makes Christie novels so much fun?). Jane Marple stays out of the way most of the time so don't expect too many scenes with her.

First Agatha Christie in a long time for me. Started me reading her again. Miss Marple is great in this. Gently pushing and prodding to find the murderer. Good ending.

This is the first Agatha Christie book I ever read and it had me hooked! I am now only missing a few in my collection!

I enjoyed this mystery. Christie is a good writer, though I haven't read much of her Miss Marple. I wasn't quite clear at the end why the murderers tried to hang it on who they did, but I was also tired when I finished, so maybe I just wasn't paying close enough attention. The village gossip aspect is interesting, and much different than the Poirot I'm used to reading.

A Jane Marple Murder Mystery. As are all Dame Agatha's books, it's an excellent one. I have another copy or I wouldn't be getting rid of this one!

A quick read, sort of like cleansing your palate between heavier courses of a meal. The twist was probably deemed more clever when the book first came out, but it's still a nice one and you can reread parts to see the clues you probably missed along the way. Miss Marple uses her knowledge (and years of snooping) of village life to ascertain motives behind the skullduggery, although some of her ruminations are a bit of a stretch.

A very engaging story about the murder of a woman and how her body ended up in the library of a man who never knew her. Miss Marple is a fantastic character, and this book is a wonderful read.
