Soooo Good and humor, too - great cozy mystery in France!!! Faith Fairchild, a minister's wife, visits France for a month with husband Tom and child, Ben. And while getting to know Lyon and French customs as well as the language (and we get to know some, too), Faith, also writing a cookbook, has a dinner party and afterwards while throwing away her garbage finds a body in the trash in the vestibule where they live!!!!
Her adventures take us with her as she wanders around Lyon and as her curiosity takes her closer to the murderer! Very good cozy read!!!!
Satisfying her hunger for epicurean adventure in the French provinces, small town caterer and minister's wife Faith Fairhild decides to throw the perfect diner party. But during cleanup after the last guest has departed her gastronomical triump, she encounters something neither expected nor welcome: a dead body lying in her vestibule. Unfortunately it doesn't help la belle americaine's credibility when the corpse vanishes before the local gendarmes arrive. But Faith realizes that, though the police refuse to take her seriously, a killer just might. And if she doesn't get to the bottom of this fiendish French conundrum Faith's successful feast could end up being her last.
I enjoy the Faith Fairchild mysteries, but felt this was a little pretentious - lots of French phrases with no translations. They don't interfere with the mystery; it's just a little annoying. Also left some questions open, like why the man whose body was in the vestibule was killed and why the killers thought Faith was a threat. If you like French food it will set your mouth watering; lots of descriptions of meals and shopping in the open air market.
