Although I am a huge fan of historical fiction, I found this book to be a People magazine version of "literature". The dialogue was juvenile and almost unreadable, and I felt as though the author was condescending to the reader. It also felt as though the author had done no research to prepare for this book, but instead relied on old movies and heresay as her main source material. The only reason I finished it at all is because I was on vacation and had no other reading material. A real disappointment.

I have to emphasize that this story is fiction, based VERY LOOSELY on history. If you're looking for an accurate depiction of Anne Boleyn's story, you're in the wrong place. That being said, I LOVED the book. Very captivating and easy to read. Philippa Gregory does a wonderful job of putting you in the story and the feel of those times. I purchased this for a plane ride, and had a very difficult time putting it down! I highly recommend the book, especially if you watched the movie and were disappointed (as I was!). The Other Boleyn Girl is detailed and enthralling.

This book was such frivolous rubbish that after 120 pages I had to count it a loss and quite. I'd rather read a non-fiction account or watch a fictionalized show such as "The Tudors" of these events because I've found them to be more interesting. This book was just blah and pure torture to try and like.

A particularly engaging story based on historical facts. I had to force myself to put it down from time to time in order to drag out the enjoyment. Truly felt like I was there.

Such a long book, but I wish it was longer. Some parts were slow, but other than that, I could not put the book down. Very good story. If you saw the movie, the movie sucked and left out so many parts, so give the book a try. Great Book!

I loved this book! I am recommending this to all my avid reader friends. Most of them have already this book and I must admit it was recommended to me.
I literally raced through this book- which is something to say as it was about 800 pages I think... I was left with a wonderfully rich and detailed sense of life in court in the times leading to and during the years in which Ann Boleyn was queen of England. It was very entertaining and truly fascinating. The characters were complex and memorable and the narrative written in a highly suspenseful fashion. I had a difficult time putting this one down!

This is an absolutely intriguing novel. Addictive, really - this one led me to read everything Philippa Gregory has published to date. Although there are fictional characters mixed in with real characters, it simply did not matter at all to me. Philippa did a great job with this one. (If you see the movie, you will be disappointed - it is barely a Cliff's Notes version of this fine novel).

This book isn't completely true to historical accounts of the Boleyn affairs, but if you're the type to enjoy quick, fluffy reads, this is the book for you! I admit, not being fond of the chick-lit genre, to reading this within the first few days of its purchase; The Other Boleyn Girl is easily read, while maintaining colorful and creative imagery. Also, the cover has Eric Bana on the front, which is a plus.
I know this book is very popular but I just don't agree. i read every page and hoped that at some point I would find a redeming quality in at least one of the characters. i didn't. Gregory's writing style is engaging, I found it easy to keep reading and yet the story was so ugly. I had no desire to read the other books she has written after finishing this one.
This was a great book....a very fast read.
Ms. Gregory tells a wonderful story !!!!! She needs to start writing precisely factual history books for schools!! If she did, we'd all know TONS more about the History of England!
My first read by this author. Couldn't put it down!
A captivating read that was almost impossible to put down until finished.
This book had me completely hooked - I wanted to read it constantly! The writing is excellent, and I felt like I was there watching the story unfold. This was my first Philippa Gregory book, and I will definitely be reading more!
Great book I loved it I am so glad to hear about Mary Boleyn for a change
This was a great read that kept me turning the pages steadily.
A little slow at times but overall a good read
I love everything Philippa Gregory writes. This book is no exception! I highly recommend her. People blame her for not being "Historically correct." She never claimed to be a historian! You will find her books in the FICTION area of your local library or book store...not NONfiction!! She tells a great story every time!

This author is simply fabulous. I enjoyed this book. Grab a blanket and curl up on your couch and dive in to this story.
I loved this book and went on to read several others written by Philippa Gregory. The story is so well written I had to keep reminding myself that it was fiction and although some of the facts were true it was not a true representation of history.
"The Other Boleyn Girl" is a great Fictional Drama based VERY LOOSELY after the lives of two of the best woman who graced the English courts during the reign of King Henry VIII. I would recommend the novel to anyone who likes a good and dramatical book that keeps you turning pages!!!.
Loved this book so much.
