But the story doesn't end there. Nobuo Fujita, the Japanese pilot who bombed Curry County, was invited to Brookings in 1962, and amid the controversy, a friendship was born. Fujita not only donated his samurai sword to the City of Brookings, but he also visited Brookings three more times. In addition, he hosted three Brookings-Harbor High School students in Japan.
