About the time we moved away from the Texas City, Tx., area, a group of young women started up a roller derby rink and games in the old K-Mart building in town. I don't know if they are still operating, but I thought I'd learn a little more about the sport. The emphasis is on 'little.'

Dev Haskell is a promiscuous private eye in St. Paul. He has a love/hate relationship with Detective Manning. The author took poetic license with his depiction of the police. My husband and I are COPS (Citizens on Patrol) with the police, and the scenes depicted would get them fired. Just sayin'.

The story moved fast and kept the reader's attention. Period. Otherwise, the depiction of a testosterone-infused PI was ho-hum. Overall score = 3.5 stars.
