An interesting way I rate a novel is how often I can set the novel down. Simply put, if I can stop reading the book without any stress to my well-being, Im not that into the book. With Bonded by Blood, I was able to set the book down, and not even think about it for days. It was not that the book was bad; it just was not anything new or exciting. I liked it. I enjoyed it, I just did not think about it beyond the time I was actually reading it. In fact, it is hard for me to remember the story and I just read it.
Maybe Ive read too many paranormal romance books and my opinion is jaded. I dont know. At this point, it takes a lot to wow me when it comes to PR and this one (even though it was good) didnt WOW me.

This was a fantastic book! I enjoyed it just because it wasn't "new" & out-there all the time. It was like walking into a super-comfortable paranormal world where I already knew all the nuances. Easy to read & wonderful characters.
Didn't get too bogged down into extraneous details--the scenes flowed nicely & the story moved along. The characters were delightful. A sexy hero who wasn't afraid to show his emotions...very hot. A heroine who was strong & yet didn't turn into a scared-of-men bitch all the time...rare! I love an independent woman who isn't afraid to be dependent on her man!
Reading their love story was delightful & left me feeling warm & fuzzy. A sweet story with a sweet ending. (Pun intended.) :) Excellent first book for Laurie London!

I just can't get over how much I loved this book. I really truly loved this book and I will go so far to say that it's my favorite release this year.
Mackenzie and Dominic have an instant connection. Both are highly attracted to one another but neither wants anything serious. Mackenzie believes she is cursed to die young like many others in her family and Dom is set on seeking revenge for the deaths of his parents. When Dom senses Mackenzie in trouble he stops everything to come to her rescue and in doing so reveals himself and his world to her. At first Mackenzie is freaked out but she ends up handling it very well. Afterwards her and Dom start to recognize their feelings for one another.
Mackenzie is a spunky but lovable chick who is able to take care of herself but isn't afraid to ask for help if needed. She also cares very deeply for those she surrounds herself with. Dom is careful and tries to not have any entanglements that hold him back from his quest for vengeance. But he soon realizes he has deep feelings for Mackenzie and he can't let her go. To see this is great. There is nothing better than watching a man fall hopelessly head over heels in love. The care and love he shows Mackenzie was great to see.
I felt that the connection between both Dominic and Mackenzie was great. Both grow so much throughout the story. They start off afraid to be with each other because they are so uncertain of their futures and it's great to see them realize nothing matters but the other. I truly believed in them and was rooting for them from the beginning of the story.

First book in the Sweetblood series. Mackenzie has always felt that her family was cursed. Little does she know that it runs in her blood. Dom is a Guardian with the Agency. After being severly wounded by Darkbloods, Dom is saved by Mackenzie's blood. Their relationship goes deeper than blood and connects them in a way they are not prepared for. 3.5 stars

This was such an easy story to get sucked in to. When I started it, I was totally captivated. I loved the world that London built and was tickled to hear that this was a series. Dominic and Mackenzie were great characters and I cant wait to visit with them again in Embraced by Blood due out in June this year, Londons next book that follows Doms brother, Alfonso.
Mac has always known that her family was cursed. She doesnt know why, but members of her family have been disappearing for generations. While out scouting a movie location, she encounters Dominic who has been shot and left for dead. Because she is a Sweetblood, her blood saves Dom but causes an unusual bonding with him. This bonding and world building by London were only two things that reminded me of the early Feehan books that started my love affair with this genre. The presence of good and bad vampires was another. I hope that this series has the longevity of Feehans and certainly will be there for the ride.
