Wow... just wow! I can't believe how awesome this book was. It had everything I wanted in it. It kept me eager for more. Even as long as it was, I didn't want it to end. All the characters, even secondary ones, were ones you got to know and cared about. I had a harder time connecting with Maddie but I eventually did. The building of the story was fantastic. With elements of urban legends, a serial killer, science fiction and so much more, it was a whirlwind of words. Then then writing... Wendig does an excellent job at keeping the story flowing and getting you so immersed, you feel like you are there.
This was my first Wendig book and I am an automatic fan!

Long ago, Nathan lived in a house in the country with his abusive father. Long ago, Maddie was a little girl making dolls in her bedroom when she saw something she shouldn't have. Long ago, something sinister, something hungry, walked in the tunnels and the mountains and the coal mines of their hometown in rural Pennsylvania. Now, Nate and Maddie Graves are married, and they have moved back to their hometown with their son, Oliver. Now what happened long ago is happening again and it is happening to Oliver. This is a creepy literary horror with dark magic and fantasy about good vs. evil. I live in Perkasie PA and the tunnel mentioned in the book is at the bottom of the hill my house sits on. I enjoyed all the sites in PA that were mentioned in the book as I have physically been there If you like Stephen King books then I would recommend you read this one. I would like to thank Del Rey Books and NetGalley for a free copy for an honest review.
