A BOOK OF ANGELS is my favorite source of information on the subject of angels, because it contains the most dazzling array of myths and stories about angels one could ever hope to find in one book. I am equally delighted with its thrilling personal accounts of the way human poets, mystics and saints (such as Blake, Dante, Dostoyevski, Goethe, Milton, Poe, Rilke, Shakespeare and Swedenborg) have interacted with angels throughout history. Beautiful illustrations and quotes appear on almost every page, such as this lovely one from Saint Augustine, "Every visible thing in this world is put in the charge of an angel."

Sophy Burnham has written a book that truly got me in touch with God & the spiritual side of my life. I love this book and anyone who is on their path of spirituality, this book is a good start. Not only does she talk about angels, she gives you other taste's of religions, and how to pray. I have been giving this book to people I know who are searching for some comfort and understanding in their lives and hope this would be a good start. Easy read.
New-agey and quite hokey in places, but he art is very, very nice.
Beautiful and informative book on Angels. A must read for anyone wanting to know more about Angels!
A lovely book about angels, with lovely old illustrations throughout its pages.

When Sophy Burnham wrote a Book of Angels, she inspired a phenomenon. An instant bestseller when it was originally published, this beautiful volume tells not only the extraordinary true stories of present-day encounters with angels, but also traces the understanding and study of angels throughout history and in different cultures. What do angels look like? Whom do they choose to visit? Why do they appear more often to children than to adults? An eloquent report from the place where earth and heaven meet. A Book of Angels is a quest into mysteries and a song of praise to life.

I was personally disappointed in this book because I believe in angels, but not in ghosts. There was too much about writers thoughts?, views?, on ghosts and I wasn't interested in what I feel is fiction.
The New York Times bestseller. A golden conjunction of heaven and earth...reminding us that there are angels in every religion. Like all good books, it exceeds the subject and illumintes the tough, tiring, and sometimes miraculous business of living, where angels sometimes help out...
Very inspiring.
