This was a very interesting book that revolves around a silent film actor, Hector Mann, who disappeared in the 20's. A college professor, David Zimmer, is suffering after the death of his wife and children when he laughs for the first time at Hector Mann's actions in one of his silent movies. Zimmer undertakes a thorough study of Mann's volume of work, but little does he know, Mann continued to make movies after his disappearance.

An interesting story! The plot kept me interested the whole way through and the ending was definitely NOT what I expected.

I gave this book a solid chance. I read the first 100 pages, and was still bored. So I decided to skip to reading the last 40 pages. The funny thing is...I did was not confused nor did I feel I missed anything by skipping that far and finishing the book.

kind of dark, kind of self-indulgent, but definitely worth a read if you have enjoyed the author's other titles

This is the story of an old time movie actor who disappears off the face of the earth in 1928; only to be found more than 60 years later. This is his story and that of the man who finds him

I liked this book, didn't love it, liked. I do enjoy Paul Auster and while this book was interesting, it just moved a bit slowly for me. Don't rule it out, you may like it more than I did.
