Good book for a beginner.

9" high x 7" wide. Small enough to pack in luggage or tuck into purse if traveling.
The book is "O" wire-bound so that covers and pages open flat. Hard cover that looks as if it would be spot-cleaned.
Contents page lists introduction, body and mind, warm-ups, introductory level exerrcises, beginner level exercises, advanced Pilates, glossary, and index. Published in the UK, printed in China (nice paper).
The word 'exercise' is, in my opinion a misnomer when speaking of Pilates. It seems to me something more like specialized body postures rather than the bump-and-grind or run-down-the-road-as-fast-as-you-can-while-your-facvial-expression-says-kill-me-please exercises pushed by media and diet dictocrats for the last three (four?)decades. But in the Pilates moves, muscle-strengthening, toning, and firming are achieved mostly without breaking sweat. Is having a tight and toned body healthy? I think so.
Pilates is not hard on practitioners' joints and certified instructors often (frequently) warn students NOT to overstretch or overextend because they can get hurt, and that is not the objective of ANY exercise routine. If it hurts, stop and don't do that again. Pilates doesn't require expensive shoes or clothing, doesn't require a gym or special equipment, and you can do it in the privacy of your home if you wish. It's the perfect plan for those who'd like to 'exercise' while watching TV.\
Why not select this book and exercise EACH TIME you watch TV?
