This is an excellent book for starting discussions. I've used it with friends in the car on long road trips, as a college RA to spark discussion during communication activities, and in ethics classes as a source of examples of serious ethical dilemmas. Also, if you're like me and were born without the gift of the gab, keeping a few of the more interesting questions in mind will help you through any social setting. While there are numerous mundane and perhaps pointless questions in this book, there are numerous perplexing, thought-provoking, and difficult ones as well. This book will get you thinking seriously about your beliefs.
Thought provoking, conversation stimulating questions. 5 X 7 inch paperback, 205 pages. Not trivia questions, but questions about you or the person you ask -- what you think, feel, value. What you would do in given situations.

Aside from being entertaining light reading for your spare moments, this book is an excellent idea-starter for writers and speakers.

This book provides an excuse to ask your friends and loved ones deep questions to get to know them better. IT really can provoke hours of fairly deep meaningful conversation.
Some question includes:
What is your most treasured memory?
Are there people you envy enough to want to trade lives with them? If so, who?
Doest he fact that you've never done something before increase or decrease its appeal to you?

No fun if you can't get anyone to answer the questions.

Sometime provocate, others just plain silly, these questions get a conversation started and help keep it going. A fun book to have on hand.

I love this book. Flip open a page, read a question, and then you have a half-hour conversation. I have owned it over ten years and constantly go back to it. I used it on my parents, brother, friends, first dates, prospective husbands. It must've worked--I'm still married! Hope he writes one I can use on my kids!

Thought-provoking questions, none of which can be answered with a simple "no" or "yes." Good for use with teenagers (I use some as journal topics), encounter groups, first dates, or to get to know someone better. Some of the questions are a little morbid or "dirty," but you can skip those if you're uncomfortable. Most are just basic questions.
Here's a sample:
What, if anything, is too serious to be joked about?
What was your most enjoyable dream? Your worst nightmare?
What is your most treasured memory?
A lot of the questions have follow-up questions to deeper probe into the responder's mind. A really neat book!

Huge bestseller in the late 80's. Lots of stimulating springboards for conversation and discussion.. Also great tool for self-discovery, alone in a room, asking yourself about your beliefs and attitudes. Can't go wrong.
This is a great book to have at a get together to stimulate conversation, or to find out more about what makes you tick. Some really thought provoking questions in this little book.
Great for conversation starters!
This book is great to start conversations, learn more about people, and even learn more about your yourself. The questions are complex and sometimes you really have to think hard about your answers. My husband and I read and answered a few before bed every night and it was surprising at times how similar or different our answers could be.
Great for a party game, or getting to know people.
This is a fun way to get a conversation going in a group or between two people. It would also be a good story starter device!A typical question is as follows: If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one abilty or quality, what would it be?
Great way to really know others and yourself.
Ask your friends, ask your parents. Ask someone you hardly know. The Book of Questions gives you permission to ask those things that are too bold, too embarrassing, or just too difficult to ask by yourself. You will find questions of integrity; of sex; of what you would do for money; even things too personal to talk about out loud.
Whether you use it as a tool for self-discovery or as a provacative way to stimulate conversation, this book constantly challenges attitudes, morals, beliefs -- and it challenges you.

Everyone should read this book, because it makes you really think about life...I was really impressed with this book
This book is fascinating and a lot of fun! (Not only that, but it makes the greatest party game in the world!)
A good book to use with my students to get them thinking.
My family loves to read and answer these together. I have two teenagers.
I bought this book before I went on vacation with a group of friends, thinking it would be perfect for our long train rides and layovers along the way. Well, I left it at home, but was so bummed that I went to a bookstore in London and bought another copy! I'm holing on to my copy for the next vacation, but I have an extra to give away to another person who is looking for a perfect travel companion, bedside book, or living room conversation starter!
Fun and interesting!
