Why not read the other one next month, since so many wanted to do it too?  I think we did this once before with Year of Wonders, didn't we?

I'm gonna skip this one, just can't get any interest up in it. Put the other one on the next list, the same people should vote for it.

I don't know Chris, hopefully at least 9 people read it. The ones I voted for for the most part didn't get anywhere near the top of the list. I did vote for the #2 book though when they were tied, it looked the better of the two to me.

That's a good point. I do vote for multiple books but I wouldn't vote for one I'm not willing to read and stick around for, it doesn't do any good for a book to get a bunch of votes if no one is going to be around to discuss it. Some of my votes have been a little hesitant, I wasn't thrilled with the selection but I would have read it and the ones I was thrilled with weren't in a position to win. Sometimes you're not sure you will enjoy a book but it turns out you do, so that's no big deal to me. I do think it would be great if more people joined us, we wouldn't have this problem for one thing. Even if some of us decided to skip the book there would still be plenty of people to have a discussion, but they really shouldn't vote if they're not going to participate. 

I vaguely remember a post in another forum where we were trying to get people to come on down, and it said to come and vote.  People might have gone and voted without being someone that wanted to read with us.  Can't find the post now.  I went through at least all of July's threads on CMT, Hidden Gems, Contemporary Fiction, Mystery Forums and I can't find it.

I'm with you Barb. I don't vote for something in less I want to read it. When the two were tied this month I didn't vote for either one because neither one interested me.

I would like to reread this one and discuss it.  How do I begin to participate?  I loved this book when I first read it.

oh, well, crap! I've lost the dangnabbed book!not only will this hamstring me in the discussion, but it will make it hard for me to repost it.

So I've got about a quarter of the book left and it's not as depressing as I'd expected. I've been reading it pretty quickly actually and might even be done by tomorrow.

I didn't think it was depressing at all.  Just the opposite in fact.
