A book for young and old alike. It is not so indepth that a young reader cannot get into it, nor so simple that an experienced reader will not enjoy it. The Chronicles of Prydain is a great series, I enjoyed them all.

if you like adventure intrigue and danger you will like this book ages 10 and up

if you like the JRR Tolkien books you will like these. Easier to read for younger readers not as heavy into the language or the morals. Started me on a love of fantasy that continues to this day.

Excellent series for young readers. It was my all time favorite as a child. It is along the lines of a Lord of the Rings fantasy, using lots of Welsh legend.

My boss told me that if I didn't read this book, she wouldn't speak to me. I read the book and enjoyed it immensely. I have the rest of the series too and I look forward to reading the entire series. Something I should have read long ago.

These group of books are a great story for tween and teen with some character building inside the story. It's fantasy with a boy given a job of pig tender when he would like to do something grand.

I never did finish this book. When I sat down to try and finish it I realized I just didn't care. I didn't care about the characters, the political upheaval, or even the oracle telling pig.
I think it was the writing style that really did me in. The names were so complicated and unpronounceable it completely removed me from the story every time a new character was mentioned.
This was recommended by a friend who has pretty good taste in books, but sadly I just couldn't add this book to my good list.

This is a very sweet but kind of simple book--easy to read, but not too exciting to go to sleep after. It's the first in the series, and the books get better and better; but you have to start with this one.
This is a great book and a great series!
