Well seeing we don't have that many replies I didn't bind this topic with a month I finished The Beautiful Ashes :: Jeaniene Frost. I enjoy her adult paranormal books and this one was pretty good. I would put it in the New Adult category rather than YA. It has some potential to be a good series. Needs a little more world development but I would read book 2 in the series. Read Jump When Ready by David Pandolfe, a rather interesting little story about the spirits of young people who are adjusting to their new state of existence. Intriguing concept as some band together to help a new member of the group. Finished reading Nine Days by Fred Hiatt, quite good, 4 stars. It's about human rights based on the tale of a real young woman whose father disappears into the bowels of China's prisons, lured by those who wish to silence his voice. And, I read Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen, a five star read. GOOD! Last Edited on: 12/21/14 9:16 PM ET - Total times edited: 5 |

What did you think of the Mockingjay movie Alice? |
|||
|
|||
It is very dark, just like the book. It was well done. I am not a big fan of book 3 but it did a good representation of it.

Just finished a reread of Wake. I read this five or six years ago back in middle school. Glad to see it was just as memorable, even with the simple sentences, grammatically errors, and incomplete sentences. I'll definitely be reading book two and hoping it just gets better. :) |

Just read The Ashwater Experiment by Amy Goldman Koss for the 2015 YA mini challenge. Good little read indeed. I truly enjoy books about life and this is one even if it is a bit beyond the norm. Beginning Ingenue by Jillian Larkin. Has anyone read the first in the series, Vixen? Last Edited on: 5/26/15 10:13 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I just finished a good read by Gwendolyn Heasley called A Long Way from You. It was a fun, quick read. I liked Where I Belong, the companion novel slightly more because I found the narrator of that story more humorous.

REK...I read the full series by Larkin and quite enjoyed them all! |

I am finally reading These Broken Stars :: Amie Kaufman, Meagan Spooner It is quite good and has good reviews |

I just finished Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard 2 days ago and I LOVED IT! Its like a very dark version of The Selection series and The Hunger Games. Of course some of it was a little predictable but it is a YA book so it happens. Book 2 doesn't come out till next year and I already can't wait!
I got 120 pages into Far Far Away by Tom McNeal and I had to put it down. I wanted to like it so bad because I love anything that is a new twist if fairy tales and anything Grimm. The writing style was odd and I was having a hard time understanding what was going on in the book, though I know the mystery is supposed to be there. I felt frustrated every time I read it, I just wanted it to be so much better than it ended up being.
I'm going to start The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau later this evening. Ive hearsd its a bit like the Divergent series. |

Val: I have the rest of Larkin's trilogy on my WL but I am still waiting. I gave Ingenue three stars as I thought some of the characters were too shallow. However, I do realize that this is a YA book and the characters are very young. |

Just finished Hush,Hush and I ended up being more confused than anything. The transition of time was abrupt to me at some points. One minute she's with her best friend then in the next sentence she's at home with her mom. She's also scared to death of one of the characters and demands answers every time they are together, but she never really asks anything and leaves frustrated. Unfortunately I'm not continuing this series. Last Edited on: 11/2/15 6:15 AM ET - Total times edited: 2 |
