3.5 stars. I didn't think I was going to like this book; was a slow beginning for me and a lot of English and Scottish words. However, I ended up really liking it. Zoe is a young, single mother living in a small flat in London trying to make ends meet. She gets an opportunity to move to Scotland for an au pair job and one selling books from a mobile library. What she finds is a highly dysfunctional family and a challenging job filling the librarian's shoes.

Another delightful read by Jenny Colgan. Usually her stories keep me smiling throughout the book. This one was not a "cheery" book. Zoe, raising her son Hari by herself with almost no help from his wayward dad, decides to leave the expense of England and travels to Scotland where a friend has lined up two jobs for her. One, helping out with a traveling bookshop, and secondly, as a live in aupair to a very strange family in a very old castle- like home. Many interesting characters, and many adventures later, Zoe finds what true home and family mean.

Good chick lit. Good characters and story. Conflicts with good resolution. Heartwarming without being cheesy. Just a good satisfying easy read.
