First of the Vicky Bliss series. Not as good as the ones that follow this one, I think, but a must to see where she gets her start.

Mme. Peters' "Amelia Peabody" stories are better known, but i just lover her "Vicky Bliss" stories, about a sassy, beautiful art historial. This is the first Vicky Bliss mystery.

The first in the Vicky Bliss series. Our heroine is an art historian. She discovers information about a missing masterwork in wood created by an artist who died in the sixteenth century. Soon she and an arrogant male colleague are off to Germany on a quest to find it. Along the way they meet several other people on the same quest. While staying in an old schloss she experiences what seems to be an evil spiritual presence. Is it real or just someone's dirty tricks to steal the masterpiece. The story is interesting, written in the first person with a somewhat dated feel which doesn't distract from a good story.
