Helpful Score: 1
This is the worst book I've read in some time. There was so much wrong with this book that I'm amazed I read the same novel as the people who rated this so extravagantly. Instead of a continuous tale, this story was episodic in nature. Rafe, the hero, was too perfect. He can do doctoring and throw pots (on a potter's wheel) that are so good they can be sold and still have time for bounty hunting. Heavens, he doesn't speak Spanish perfectly; how did that happen?
Tayla was a dolt. She had a hard time staying upright with all her falls and mishaps. But the thing that drove me crazy was the way the author kept kicking the plot down the road. She wouldn't let the characters talk, so the mystery became understandable. If that weren't enough, the repetition was excruciating.
Finally, in Chapter 19, the author pulled various characters out of a hat and had them interact to try to explain the story. Where did Finn and Malcolm come from? Or Tessa? By then, I didn't really care. However, I'd invested so much time in this drivel that I promised to see the conclusion and if the solution redeemed the story. It didn't. This is a waste of time.
