A novel about Pearl Harbor seen through the eyes of a boy. Suitable for elementary school or middle school reading.
I got this for my 13 year old grandson who is a reluctant reader. He loved the book. I recommend it highly.
Boy At War was a wonderful, heartfelt, story of young Adam and his family. Adam is new to Hawaii where his father has been stationed as the commander of the Arizona. The Arizona is a navy battle ship and Adam is very proud of his father. This is a time of conflict among identities, Japanese families whose children are born Americans, Japanese families who try to gain US citizenship. Hawaiian families, and the conflict that happens during a war that changes the way individuals see one another. When the Japanese bomb Pear Harbor. Adam and his friends are right in the middle of the battle. Their lives are never the same again.
