Branded is a well researched and well written (hence fascinating) take on the materialistic view that today's teenagers have been brought on with. As a mother of three teenagers myself, I really appreciate the common sense and open view of the author, Alissa Quart.
a look into the advertising industry that targets children, and especially teenagers. lots of disturbing stuff, most especially, in my opinion, the amount of marketing being done in schools. she went off on some tangents that i didn't especially follow- boob jobs for kids and pro-ana as self-branding, for example- and her sentence structure had me all confused numerous times in the book (to the point that i wonder if they were typos?) but all in all, a pretty interesting book.
A very timely book about the shaping of adolescent girls.
