OKAY. SISTER LOOKING FOR SISTER'S KILLER. GETS INVOLVED WITH A COP.
Helpful Score: 1
This book was okay. The story is a bit anti-climatic because you are aware of who the killer is throughout the book... it's mentioned several times. So, finishing this book is a requirement if you want to see how the killer is finally caught and if the lead characters hook up. A weak plot in my opinion.
I enjoy all Nora Roberts books, and this was no exception.
When a superstar mystery writer visits her sister to unwind from a grueling book tour, she finds herself tracking a real-life killer who has already shattered her ife... and now seeks to end it.
This writer is fantastic...another good read.
Murder and phone sex operators.
While I didn't enjoy this as much as other Nora Roberts' books, I enjoyed it enough to read twice. It's somewhat of a mystery. First published in 1988.
This book is the sequel to Sacred Sins.
A great read. Really enjoyed this book. Another great story by Roberts!
read it in less than 48 hours, couldn't put it down.
great book!!!
great book!!!
It was a very good book,I couldn't put it down
Interesting storyline. Moved right along. Kept you guessing.
Grace McCabe was shocked to find her sister Kathleen living in a grungy D.C. suburb, supplementing her income as a phone sex operator after a bitter divorce. But with the company Fantasy, Inc. guaranteeing its employees complete anonymity, how dangerous could it really be? Grace was soon to learn the answer when she returned home one night to a horrifying scene that might have come from one of her own novels. Ignoring the warnings of cool-headed detective Ed Jackson, Grace sets her own daring trap to rouse a killer out of hiding. But what can protect her from a brilliant madman whose lust for murder stops at nothing....and no one?
real good reading Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors.
I loved this book. It goes to show you never know someone 100%.
Another winning Nora Roberts tale of mystery, intrigue and good characters.
Loved it!!!
Features some of the same characters as Sacred Sins. A writer and the cop next door try to find her sister's killer. Serial killer.
A PRETTY GOOD READ.
I was captivated from the very first page. I loved it.
Good romance writer. Prolific writer.

This is a really suspenseful book--another Nora Roberts winner!
Grace McCabe was shocked to find her sister living in a grungy DC suburb, supplementing her income as a phone sex operator after a bitter divorce. She is more shocked to return home one night to a grizzly scene and her sister dead. Ignoring the warnings of cool-headed detective Ed Jackson, Grace sets her own daring trap. Great Nora Roberts.
This was a quick read. This is the first time I have ever read Nora Roberts. I enjoyed her and will be looking for more of her books.

Excellent suspense!
Gotta Love Nora Roberts!
My first Nora Roberts book that got me started reading her. A thriller/romance that's hard to put down.
Typical Nora Roberts - good story.
One of her best
I generally stick to Nora Roberts Trilogys but was drawn into this single title. All about a murder writer mixed up in a murder.
this was a great book - a nice twist. It's a mystery more than a romance, but as always with Nora Roberts, very well done!
a great read
Always a fan of Nora Roberts!
This book doesn't disappoint.
This book doesn't disappoint.
as usual nora roberts provides good read
One of Roberts' best. Sequel to Sacred Sins.
I liked it OK. It's a quick read and not terribly memorable. It is well paced though. I think the author has a good feel for timing and how a mystery reader wants the story to flow. I, personally, liked it because it was set in the DC area. There's not a lot of in depth, inside information about the town, which is probably good readers who haven't been there. It's not a constant tangent that's enough to annoy them by distracting from the plot - just enough to flesh it out and set the scene credibly.
"DESIREE," HE MURMURED, "I LOVE YOU"
With his eyes on hers, he began to unbuckle his belt. She snatched up a paperweight and heaved it as she dashed to the door. It grazed the side of his head.
It was a nightmare, she thought. But dreams didn't hurt. She heard her blouse rip even as she struggled.
"You promised. You promised," he said over and over. He coud feel her skin now, soft and hot, just as he'd imagined. Nothing was going to stop him.
The passion was exploding in his head, but not the way he'd wanted. Her screaming was tearing into him, spoiling it. "Stop it!" But she wouldn't stop screaming. She scratched, but the pain only inflamed his need, and fury. She'd lied. This wasn't the way it was supposed to be. She was a liar and a whore, and still he wanted her.
Flinging a hand out, she shoved, knocking over the table. The phone fell on the floor beside her head.
And he took the cord and wrapped it around her throat, pulling hard until the screamming stopped........

Book was pretty good. Reminded me more of Mary Higgins Clark style.
This is one of the older N.R. books. Moved fast, steamy and suspenseful

From Nora Roberts, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Villa and Carolina Moon, comes a classic tale -- a searing novel of twisted passion and lethal cunning, available in hardcover for the first time.

Her plan goes against every coolheaded instinct of Detective Ed Jackson, the lead investigator on the case. He's read all of Grace's books and might have been the perfect consultant for the one she's working on, though in this real-life murder, she's the last complication he needs.
He's determined to keep Grace out of harm's way, but it's too late. Her trap has already worked. She has aroused the attention of a brilliant madman, and now nothing may be able to protect her from the murderous lust that drives this killer down a path of ecstasy laced with death.
