Life in Afghanistan was hard under Taliban rule. Women and children were subject to arrest just for stepping outside their home and yet this young girl found herself as the only breadwinner in her family. A real eye opener.

Fantastic! This is not just a kid's book. It describes what life can be like in a country where women are considered property and what life is currently like in many of the middle eastern countries. This book can generate more discussions than any teacher or parent could think of. This is the best of the trilogy, but all three are worth reading.
