This series is an absolute horrible piece of fiction. Aside from the fact that Meyer completely butchers vampire lore, Bella is the most vapid, anti-feminist character that I have ever had the misfortune to read. The entire series involves Bella worshiping Edward calling him everything from perfect to glorious to God-like, and wondering why he is in love with her when it's so clear that she's a stupid, fragile, clutzy human who doesn't deserve him. Bella is, in a word, too stupid to live. I am seriously dismayed that so many young women adore this series when it teaches them that the only way to validate yourself is through being loved by a superior man. Aside from the troubling anti-feminist message Meyer also lacks the basic artistic skills that it takes to write a good and intriguing book. Her characterization is two-dimensional at best and her ability to plot and build a climax is even worse. The entire series centers around the relationship between these two characters, Bella and Edward, who magically fall in love at first sight with no explanation other than that Edward is hot and Bella smells tasty to Edward.

Bottom line- this book is pure juvenile romantic fantasy with less substance than a Harlequin romance and even worse writing.

It seems that with "Breaking Dawn" either you loved it or hated it. Although I wouldn't go quite so far as to say that I hated it, I really didn't enjoy it. In fact, I found it depressing. Meyer seemed to gone the way Patricia Cornwell did with her Kay Scarpetta series: beloved characters that had been so richly portrayed in the past books all of a sudden seem dull and almost unrecognizable, storylines and characters are thrown in willy-nilly and then removed just as quickly, and (the worst sin) the main character starts to get under your skin so much that you almost stop caring about her. On it's own this book might have been okay but it's so oddly out of sorts with the rest of the series that it just bothered me. I'm sorry to say that I cannot recommend it.

As a huge fan of the first three in the series, this one is a disappointment. The characters seem out of sync with those in the first three books, some of the plot points are downright laughable and everything is far too neat and tidy.

This is one of my least favorite of the Twilight saga. I keep hearing that it gets better with each re-read, so I'll give it another try. But my initial impression was mixed. I didn't hate the book like some did, but it's definitely not my favorite. It felt rather rushed in some places, and anti-climactic in others. But the end was satisfying.

Epic failure. Huge disappointment.
The characters seemed...out of character. It was hard to overlook the gaping plot holes and inconsistencies.

I've seen a good mix of reviews for this book and while I see most of the points, I personally LOVED it. It was good closure for me. I liked how everything tied together, and everything made sense in the end.
I thought it was GREAT!

Loved the series - - hated this book. I forced myself to finish it only to find that it gets worse as the story progresses. Stephenie Meyers introduces a gaggle of new characters, and pays no attention to premise of which these vampires have been created. There are just so many inconsistencies. It's just really creepy - - hard to imagine it was the same author.

I listened to an unabridged version of the first book and was so engrossed that I couldn't wait in line on PBS to get the next 3 and went out and bought them. I read the last three in 4 days. I just couldn't put them down.

I feel that Breaking Dawn did a good job of putting everything right. I did miss some of the "bond" between Bella, Edward and Jacob and hated that Alice's role was so diminished but overall I am very satisfied and would recommend this series to anyone. I'll be giving my mom a set for christmas and saveing mine for my kids to read in a few years.

I have never wanted to stab myself in the eye so much over the ending in a book as I have this one. Can we say anti-climatic much? I was hoping for something less "Disney" in the end, but apparently the author can't deliver on that.

The characters and plot just seemed to fall apart in this book. It basically gets to be the type of story where the author pulls in a lot of side-characters just so she can use big name vamps (Vlad for instance) and gets you anticipating something that just falls short.

Without rehashing what other reviewers have pointed out, this book was just a big disappointment and a waste of money. Sigh...

Let's just say I'm glad the series is over and the author seems to have wrapped everything up so I won't have to groan over the corniness anymore.

Did not love this book as much as the first three in the series. Main plot went against everything SMeyer has said about her vampires to date. Jacob's point of view was interesting, but unnecessary. Read like a decent piece of Fan Fiction. It was just OK.

Although most of the book was predictable with a lot of convenient short cuts and no real sacrifices by the main characters, there were some amusing moments and I found the characters less annoying than in previous books. There was also more actually going on rather than me ending the book thinking - 400 plus pages of nothing much happened that could have been made shorter. So I'd say - above average and entertaining, but didn't blow me away.

one of the better books in the story of edward and bella, this is the story of their marriage and honeymoon and then the really meaty part of the book is the shock that bella becomes pregant with edwards child and the pregancy moves really fast and bella finally gets her wish to become like edward but not under the cirmstances that anyone of them would have picked. i liked the conclusion to the saga much better than the two books in the middle. but you cant really skip them you have to read all four to really get the whole gist of the epic. a cute read for teens and adults but i wouldnt let a young girl who isnt yet in high school read it becuase it does get slightly in detail and does deal with adult topics like abortion, sex, marriage, and choices that are never easy to explain

I did my best to not read reviews for this, so I was definitely surprised by the turn of events in this final chapter of the saga. I wasn't too sure what to make of some of the plot turns, but they grew on me as the story unfolded. As with the other books in this series, I could not put the book down. I think it even joined me in my dreams. It was a good resolution to the saga. I definitely feel closure. It will be nice to get my life back, after racing through the series in the past couple of weeks. Here's hoping Stephenie gets around to fully publishing Midnight Sun one day. I found Edward's point of view thrilling.

Great series of books! Meyer is a wonderful storyteller. I look forward to her future endeavors.

My opinion is my own, but this was dreck!

Bella whines and is a super-vampire!
Edward is cool and detached.
Jacob is in love. And it's sorta yucky...
The rest of the Cullen family were cyphers.
Stuff happened, but I didn't care about who it was happening to and the why it was happening was rarely made clear.

There are so many good books, even great ones out there, why is this one getting so much attention?

ok folks, here it comes! The final book! Unfortneatly for me 1/2 the plot was spoiled for me by a PBS buddy... (you know who you are, LOL)(it only mad me want to read the book faster, LOL) But i still loved it! I made a poor attempt to skip the entire second section of the book (read from Jacobs point of view) but by doing so you really dont know too much on whats going on. Jacob is a snotty selfish little brat and poor Bella goes through so much! Its really hard to do a good review without giving away plot spoilers so i will just leave it with 2 words:
LOVED IT! I will reread this series even when im 99 years old! Hopefully Edward will come and bite me before then.....

Quite honestly, I was extremely disappointed with this installment of the series. I could care less about a "happy ending" and the main character ending up with a particular love interest as several fans complained about. I thought it was sloppy in its execution, too melodramatic, and over the top in the story. She tried to do too much and didn't write it very well. The first two books were tight; the third got a bit messy, and the final one was, in my opinion, a sell out to consumers.

"Breaking Dawn" is the fourth, and final, book in Stephanie Meyer's Twilight saga. In this review, I'm not going to convince you to read the book. You either will based on the other books in the series, or you won't.

I had some things I liked and didn't like about this book in the series, so I'm going to address them here. SPOILER ALERT!

SPOILER ALERT!
It didn't feel as if this story tied in as well with the other books in the series. "Breaking Dawn" went in a completely different direction (that before this book had no motivation).

I did like the chapter headings when Jacob was narrating. They were hilarious. But, I have to admit, I didn't care for his narration as much. This could be because I was used to Bella, or because it took me awhile to warm up to Jacob. In fact, I don't know that I did until midway through this book.

I also didn't like how everyone was so pessimistic throughout the entire novel. For me there has to be someone, even if it's just one person who believes that things will turn out well.

Overall, I liked the book. I'm very sad to see the Twilight series end. And I really look forward to "Midnight Sun". Please finish it Meyer! I know that some people in this world think more about themselves and what they will gain than what is important to others...but please don't let that get you down.

I've seen some mixed emotions regarding how this series came to a close. I happen to think that book 4 was a perfect ending to an entertaining story. For all the buildup in the first three books, this was the only way the story could go. All loose ends have been tied up nicely and a reader who liked the first three will certainly enjoy the fourth and final book in Ms. Meyer's imaginative series.

Helpful Score: 2
This book was a huge disappointment. Granted, I was probably expecting too much... I thought the 4th and final book would tie together all the loose ends, and finally reveal some of the things the author had been talking about in the first three books ad nauseum. For example, there were constant references to how insatiable the hunger always is for a new Vampire, and how uncontrollable they always are. It was established that the only vampire who ever got through the first year or two without drinking human blood was Rosalie, and that was because 1) she was overcome by grief at what had happened to her (and the horror she had become), and 2) she was consumed with revenge! Bella had no such feelings, but in fact made it her ambition from almost the moment she determined what Edward was to become like him. It would have made a MUCH better story if she had become an actual vampire instead of some bizarre superhero caricature of one. They could have had her hunt down all the human boys who chased after her, that would have made an interesting twist....

The child twist was interesting, granted, and the fact that the Voltouri were coming to destroy her. It was the only thing that kept me reading after the hugely disappointing transformation of Bella. But they the author cheated us out of that resolution and excitement also, making the "battle" a joke of all the ancient vampires being afraid of superhero Bella. If you've read the series but not this one, skip it. If you do read it, keep an airsick bag handy. I like a good vampire story on occasion, but this is anything but.

This was by far the least fave of the series. It was interesting how stephenie meyer decided to take the series to a whole different level but she just jumped too fast from the third book and only summarized major parts in the beginning so she can just get right into the wedding. I thought it would lead into the wedding at a more easier pace. Also, one reviewer miss wrote something very important. This book is in two peoples perspective: it starts with Bella (the first third of the book), then Jacob (the second third) and then ends with the last third in Bella again. (Edward's perspective is never revealed). Twilight was the best and the movie will be great to see how it is different from the book. Midnight Sun (which is Twilight written in Edward's perspective) would have been great to read if Stephenie Meyers ever decided to give her fans what they deserve by finishing it.

I've browsed through reviews and realize I am in the minority. I didn't love this book, but didn't totally hate it. I completely agree that the characters didn't seem to be "themselves". It was very inconsistent and anti-climatic. I read Twilight and the others very quickly - I couldn't put them down. This one took me almost a full week to read. I just didn't really care about the story. There were some fun parts, but overall, I think she could have ended with Eclipse and I would have been ok with that.

I highly anticipated this book after flying through the rest of the series...and I have to say I was disappointed with it. I do feel like there was closure which is a good thing because i hate when books just stop and you're like "seriously, that's how it ended". BUT I don't like that it felt very repeptative and almost over explained, I don't feel that it needed to be as long as it was. In the end i think that questions were answered and we were able to close the book and feel like Edward and Bella were in a good place. I don't know that there could have been another book after this one without it being drawn out and boring.

I loved the first 3 books and couldn't wait to finish the series. Breaking Dawn was disappointing to me, it didn't follow the same style as the previous books. I actually wish I could give this more than 5 stars! In the few final chapters I actually had to remind myself to breathe!

I jumped right into this series and ended up reading all 4 books within a week. It was nice to see Breaking Dawn come full circle and end the series perfectly. It was funny to see that in Twilight, Edward saves Bella, in New Moon Alice saves Bella, in Eclipse Edward & Seth save Bella and in Breaking Dawn it is Bella who finally saves everyone!

Stephenie Meyer is a genius for the way this series is written. Defintely on my favorite book list now!

Everyone's tastes are different, and clearly this series has some devoted fans. For me, I felt strangely drawn to keep reading this series, even while strongly disliking them...it's like a trainwreck, you can't look away...

Breaking Dawn was the bizarre, disjointed, gory culmination of that trainwreck. Honestly, my hand to God, I have read better-written fanfiction than this book. I don't want to offer "spoilers" because I know these books are loved by so many...but good grief, as you read, it just keeps going further and further down the rabbit hole. I saw an icon out on the internet that said it best:

"Twilight means never having to say you're kidding."

Whew. Nearly 800 pages. I'll say this much on the positive side -- it still felt like a quick read although my arms hurt from holding it. So much for the positive. Wow, was that awful. After being pleasantly surprised by the first book, a bit put off by the second and then reengaged by the third, I went into this conclusion pretty psyched. And then the romance just faded. Not just my romance with these novels, but The Romance between Bella and Edward, which was pretty much the whole point. As a fan of supernatural stories I can suspend disbelief pretty easily. Let's face it from the get-go vampires were known to be sexy and seductive even though we all know that technically without flowing blood some things should be impossible. After this there will be spoilers so be warned ...

Therefore, it's not the mechanics of the pregnancy that bugged me but rather how the baby story line added yet another love interest for Bella and stretched the romance out even further. Frankly, it pulled it the point of breaking. First there were two. Then there was a triangle. And lastly there was a very squicky pairing between a grown up and a child that we were supposed to accept as part of a happy ending.

Yet all that is not the problem with this novel. What makes the book ultimately fail its predecessors is that there is no longer any price for the huge decision that Bella must make. Once she choose Edward I thought we might be allowed a little exploration of that price -- would it be worth it? Would things change when they were equal? Might there be one final obstacle for their journey as a couple? It's not so much the fact of the happy ending (this is a teen romance after all) but that it was accomplished with no cost. Sure there was drama -- a disgusting birthing scene worthy of the goriest slasher tale, a kinda battle of wits and a tiny surprise-lite ending to resolve that conflict. But the angst that was the bedrock of the previous three books wasn't felt any longer. Maybe the perfect child sapped it away. Kids can kill romance :) Or maybe it was just a writer who was rushed and rather done with her story.

There was too much time spent on certain plot lines and not enough on others. The ending was a disappointment after the huge build up. I was just expecting much more.

A disappointment, but at least "I know" what happened to the characters, I suppose *laugh* I dunno, just not what I was expecting, but worth a read for the fans :)

By the time I got to Breaking Dawn, I was a bit burned out on Edward and Bella. While I found this story romantic and ultimately a wrap up of the relationship between the two main characters, I was somewhat disappointed in the blatant "unbelievability" of the story and the anti-climatic "showdown" between the family and the Volturi. Title: Breaking Dawn
Author: Stephenie Meyer
ISBN: 9780316067928/Little, Brown and Company
Protagonist: teenager Bella Swan
Setting: present-day Forks, Washington
Series: #4
Rating: C

First Line: I'd had more than my fair share of near-death experiences; it wasn't something you ever really got used to.

In an attempt to avoid spoilers, I'm going to try to make this short, sweet, and mainly about my opinions. If you have the need to read a breakdown of the plot, run a search. There will be thousands of URLs for you to check out!

I really think I should've let Breaking Dawn remain in that vast sea of books that I will never read. Not because it's a terrible book. My rating shows that I don't think it was. Rather, it was just...so predictable. The first half of the book dragged beyond all belief. My own title for this part is "Bella the Martyr", and shows in part that I'm sick of her character. Thankfully the second half picked up pace when there was some real action, but reading this for me was going through the motions. I think I would've liked it better if Meyer had included more comic relief to lighten the seriousness of it all. But this is a series for teenagers, and everything tends to be deadly serious for them.

The ending of the series was a bit of a letdown for me, but that isn't quite the disappointment you might think it would be. I'm thrilled that so many people have found books that they just had to read and read and read...and talk about. Oftentimes that's the bottom line for me. At heart, I will always be a librarian wanting everyone in the known world to stick their noses in books and find in them the never-ending source of pleasure that I do. I know some of you think this entire series was dreck and provided horrible role models for teenaged readers. But...in how many cases will these young fans of Stephenie Meyer start searching for something else to read, and then something else, and something else? Those next books they turn to may be the ones that really get them to thinking, to questioning, and to keep turning to books for the answers and for pleasure. For that reason alone--sparking an interest in reading--my hat's off to Stephenie Meyer.

Boy Vampire, girl Human? Love? What more can a girl ask for?

Why I loved it...
The emotional rollar coaster was a wicked trip. Bella and Edward come full circle with an expected hopeful turn of events that we all waited for. Action packed scenes that should translate very interestingly to screen. Finally a page turner with just a few speed bumps. Compared to the rest of the series this one was the best.

Why I hated it....
Too many unanswered questions.
As much as it was refreshing to read a different point of view (Jacob Black's), it as extremely annoying to read through these heart breaking emotions and then end the story so slighted. I feel ripped off of this character. I can only hope if it becames a movie the screen play writer ammends the mistake.

Why do vampires get a happy ending? As much as I loved that these characters found their justice of being together, it just doesn't seem appropriate to gives these two a happy ending. I really expected ending this series in tears with a nice glass of wine and a tissue box....

I am a large fan of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Series. It was a rather good bubble-gum series and rather entertaining. I do, however, believe that the series has received copious amounts of unneccessary fame from the media, as it is good, but not phenomenal. It's the book to fill the Harry Potter void. Please do not misunderstand, I loved the series.
Breaking Dawn was nothing if not disappointing. It had an excessively cliched plot with an epilogue that put J.K. Rowling's to shame. I'm quite certain I've read this book several times prior to the actual reading. The whole series was building up this tension and to this climax, and the release seemed to come at the beginning of book four, leaving a trail of minimal disputes that held no real appeal.

What a stupid ending. ugh!

I'd actually only give this book 2 1/2 stars out of 5.

I enjoyed reading it because I cared what happened to the characters and needed resolution... but to get it that way... I really might as well have been reading a trashy romance novel for all the plot, thought and sex that goes into it.

Honestly I just couldn't wrap my head around such nonsense (and believe me I deal with a lot of nonsense) to even have the ending be close to good enough.

I'm sickened that EVERYONE gets a happy ending, except Irina of course, but no one was attached or liked her anyway. I think that even fiction should have some reflection of real life, and as Bella pointed out in Twilight, "Life is not fair" so why should everyone get what they want in the end.

I think the whole book sounded like Stephenie Meyer read all the fan fiction that people have put out there and mashed it all together. I think I have read ALL those story lines on fan websites.

That is all I will say about this book.

I tried to resist reading the "Twilight" books. I heard so many good things about them, but I figured it was really just for teens. NOT TRUE AT ALL!!! I was hooked after the first book and finished the whole series in a week and a half. I HIGHLY recommend each of these books. You will not be disappointed in "Breaking Dawn".

I have to give this book, objectively, 4 stars. At 750 pages, I felt that some parts were unnecessary, and that about 200 pages could have been shaved off of the book it would have earned a 5 star review. To parents: This book DOES have Bella and Edward having sex- a few times.

Anyways, in this book, we read Jacob's perspective for about 10-13 chapters, that could have been cut in half and some other parts, the waiting dragged out. Overall, I did enjoy the final book in the series, especially their wedding, honeymoon and choices they made and how it affected this Cullen Family.

The concluding volume of the Twilight Saga, this is definitely the most divisive of the four books. While Twilight Saga fans are all agreed on the excellence of the first three volumes, there are definitely two camps for this volume: you either love it or hate it. I personally loved it. I didn't find the writing or editing quality to be any worse than with the previous books, and found the story to be equally entertaining. We learn Bella's final fate, along with those of all the rest of the main characters. Just like the others, I recommend it to everyone. My only complaint is my disappointment about the saga being over. Now, bring on 'Midnight Sun'.

This 4th book in the series did not disappoint, with the exception of making me sad that it is the last. All 4 of these were extremely fast, easy reads. You know the kind - the ones that keep you hooked so that you don't want to put it down? I do think that she threw a lot of things into this one without expounding on them. She probably could've made this one into 2 books and had a 5th one. Perhaps she was tired of the characters?

I had heard a lot of different things about this book before I had read it.
I really wasn't sure what to expect.
I love it and I hated it.
I am a fan of the whole twilight saga, but this is my least favorite of all 4 books.
But that in no way means that I hated it.
Some of the plot lines are predictable and downright insulting to the ending of bella and edward's story.
I do believe that Stephenie Meyer could have finished her series better than this.
But overall, it wasn't bad.
She has a way of writing things that is unparalle to things that I have read in the past.
She writes it beautifully, and that is something I noticed through all 4 books.

All in all, I reccomend reading this book.
And for the record, yes. The ending is pretty stupid.
But totally worth the read.

Over all a must read to finish the series, but still feel the first in the series was the best.

This book to me got a little strange. The first ones were consistent, good storylines. THis book to me had too many stories going, hard to follow all of them. Some of the things that happen in Breaking Dawn will make you go "HUH?" they got a little weird for a while. But after all the weirdness, it returns to true Twilight form. It still was a very good book, I really enjoyed it.

Of the four books in this series, this was my least favorite. While it did go into more depth about Jake's story, I found the jumping around from character to character distracting. Wow..I didn't hate the book, but I didn't love it either. I felt like the author just rushed to get this book out and forgot to write a few pages. I was even turning back some pages because I'd be reading along and then this new tidbit of info would pop up and it's like woah wait..did I miss something..yet it was never introduced properly (like the note that Alice left Bella and then a name comes up later that was read from the note..yet I have no idea what the note even said as the author doesn't tell us!!!) This was the least favorite out of the series. I loved Twilight the best and then to me it just seems like the series started to slowly go downhill after that. This book was the worst by far as it seemed drawn out in so many spots, plot lines destroyed or totally missing, leaving you going what? how did this happen? and even who is this and why are they here??, and the characters do seem out of sorts. Also the topic of sex and the act of sex comes up a lot in this book (apparently this is what vampires do for the first 10 years after being created..sex sex and more sex...just fair warning) Which in my opinion, that didn't even need to really be brought into the book at all except perhaps to mention how Nessie was created. But again, not a wonderful storyline, rather drawn out, rather boring really (I had to fight to finish the book) I just think that she could have done much better if she took her time and tried to do the book justice instead of sending out something that you know was quickly shoved together (all the editing errors in the book will even point this out)

The final book in the Twilight series. It opens with Bella driving her new, extremely expensive sports car that Edward has purchased for her and insists that she drive now that her trusty pick up has conveniently died. This embarrasses her to no end and she can barely drive the thing. (Perhaps her hoping to get her to vampire quicker?)

She and Edward announce to her father that they are getting married, but he doesnt react the way Bella expects no anger, just laughter. Laughter because she has to tell her mother shes getting married. Well, this should elicit anger but once again, the parents dont react the way Bella expects them to. Her mother is thrilled.

The wedding takes places she doesnt not trip going down the aisle. (Although, it would have added to my joy in the reading.) A few of the La Push werewolves show up and Jacob, who has been missing, makes a surprise appearance at the wedding. This pleases Bella (because the little tramp is still stringing the guy along) and bothers Edward (but hes just so mature in his response, because he just avoids Jacob.)

They then head out to some tropical island in South America, near Brazil, for a wonderful honeymoon. Sadly, theres really no sex but I suppose I shouldnt be disappointed as the author is at least staying true to the young adult fiction genre by being vague about it (and all those parents who dont want to explain sex to their kids can wait until their own children are 16 and pregnant.)

But, horror of horrors, Bella gets pregnant. Apparently, dead sperm can swim. Even worse, she cannot be convinced to not go through with this pregnancy. I think she just wants to do so because shes sure its a boy. Luckily, she hedges her bets and picks a girl name. Unfortunately, its a name she made up by combining her mother and Edwards mothers names Renesmee (ruh-nez-may or some such stupid pronunciation.)

Bella nearly dies about 6 weeks later giving birth. (Well, its not a human baby.) Edward has to save her by being the one who transforms her into a vampire. But not until after shes been attacked by the baby. (A girl given that stupid name.)

Its good that shes transformed because the Volturi are going to arrive to make sure shes been made a vampire. But, theyve learned about the baby and thats not good.

Now they have to prepare to battle the Volturi who will want to kill little Renesmee (who has reached toddler stage in about 6 weeks.)

The ending was a massive disappointment. All these vampires from around the world show up to defend the Cullen family and stop the Volturi from killing sweet little Renesme. And, I feel no remorse at revealing this, nothing happens. The Volturi go home and they all live happily ever after. (You knew that was going to happen, didnt you?)

Oh yeah, and Jacob comes back and helps the family but what happens to him is just stupid.

Thankfully, Im done with this series.

I read the first 3 books in just a few days. I devoured them. This one, I was happy to put down. I was so disappointed in this conclusion to the series, I was just heartbroken. It was like Breaking Dawn was written by a different author. The characters, which were previously engaging and well-written, seemed flat and uninteresting. The plot was so rushed in the beginning...that was probably the worst part. I know I was looking forward to Bella and Edward getting married and having a life together, and that event was just glossed-over in favor of some truly laughable plot diversions. The sad part is that Ms. Meyer probably could have successfully drawn the series out for several more books, but instead, we are left with an annoying, largely uninteresting conclusion that does little to satisfy fans. The intense romance and passion from the first the novels was completely lost.

Starting this book, I was very sad about it ending.. thinking right away I wouldn't be satisfied. BUT as in the other 3 this book keeps you drawn into it the whole way, and in the end, I wasn't moping around wondering what could have happened instead like I thought I would.. I was satisfied with it, and knew if she had added anymore it wouldn't have been right.

Everyone who reads the first book knows that Bella will get her way with you know what (don't want to spoil it just in case) but even knowing that, it doesn't take away from it when it does happen, it wasn't a cheesy happy ending, through all of the hard times it ended absolutely perfectly. And I, was satisfied.

I absolutely love what happens with Jacob in the end, I thought it was so funny.

This book was great! It had a nice closure to the series and the book itself! But I felt that the entire book should be taken from Bella's point of view, not Jacob's. It just didn't seem right to just have Bella the main character throughout the entire series then all of a sudden switch to Jacob. In a way that didn't connect. You were always wondering, "What is Bella thinking?" then after Meyer switched back to Bella it was always, "What is Jacob thinking?" It got confusing and a bit boring, but I LOVED the story line!

This book was more hardcore than the others. It will be difficult to make a movie from this one because I don't believe it would be OK for young children. There are more "mature" subject matters as well as some very descriptive scenes that could turn your stomach.
I loved this book though, but I am 25 years old. I would have to think hard about letting a young reader read this book.

The best of the four books in Stephanie Meyer's Twilight Saga, "Breaking Dawn" is a satisfying conclusion to this hyper-popular series. The plot concerns Bella's engagement and marriage to her vampire lover Edward, and her best friend Jacob's continuing jealousy and conflict concerning his own feelings toward the pair. Suffice it to say that this doorstopper makes up for the PG and PG-13 tone of its predecessors - the sex, violence, blood, and horror are wracked up to a big level in this novel, but the story is all the better for them. The book is deeply disturbing at times (especially during scenes of sexual horror involving a character's out-of-control pregnancy and birth), and even though the ending is a tad underwhelming, the characters are all given satisfying send-offs. If you've read and enjoyed the other books in this series, be sure not to miss this one. It's truly the best of the bunch!

This books is the worst of the series. It seemes to me that Meyer ran out of things to talk about and was just pushing the plot along. The books drags for most of it and it is hard to focus on the story because the plot is so weak. The characters are also not well developed. The main part of the story is boring and it glorifies teen prognancies. The third book was very action packed and this book just drags on and on about a story that is weak and that the reader could care less about. Meyer is not a particularly talented writer and in this book it shows how unable she is to build a plot and climax. I was highly disappointed to read this book because it expected more out of it and it didn't deliver at all. But if you read the first three books I would still read this one just for completion sake but don't expect too much from it.

Yes, I read the series. The story line is good, but it really is written for a young teen audience, not an adult audience. The writing is lacking (if I had to read one more time about Edward's "marble skin" ...) in more ways than one and the story is in part the only thing that kept me moving through. For the size of the books, they should be meatier in the story department though.

Very quick reads and enjoyable story line. Definitely not "great works of fiction" though.

As soon as I read this, I gave up on the book, I don't want to hear about how she almost dies, but will be saved, and how this group of people are coming to get her. My Review: A

Did I think this was a 'satisfying ending' to the series? Yes. I thought that everything turned out just wonderfully. Couldn't be happier. I am disappointed because there were personal goals I had for the characters that weren't fulfilled, but the almost 800 pages would have expanded by a couple hundred for every story line I had in my head, so no big deal there. Ms. Meyer has a wonderful capability for writing emotions. I felt one with the characters at all times. Frustrated when they were and happy when they were as well.

With out giving too much away, there was a lapse in time that I wished we'd have been able to read instead of skip over, but I dealt with it. Though, with it in mind I didn't give the book an A+. I felt just being told what happened in a three month span was not near as good as reading it.

As to the people that thought she broke rules she set (the author) I disagree, I also disagree that the characters were acting..uncharacteristic. I think everyone reacted exactly the way I would have expected them too.

I enjoyed this book a lot. I look forward to more books by Ms. Meyer, and am off to put The Host on my wish list.

Very interesting, attention-capturing fiction. Has romance, but isn't trashy. I read the books after seeing the movies, and am very glad I did. The books explain so much that the movies can't.
Edward, one of the main characters, is old fashioned and believes in abstinence until marriage, and practices great amounts of self-control to stay true to his beliefs. Bella, the other main character, is typical of the insecurities and flaws of us women. It is a great rendition of most girls' dream of being loved, protected & saved by the guy she loves. With a sci-fi twist.
I also like the way this series is written in the first person perspective...from Bella's viewpoint, athough this one has a section written from Jacob's, as well.
Am working my way through the whole series a 2nd time. I'm a female adult. My husband and my 16 yr old son both read & enjoyed the whole series. They are close Twilight fans, too. I personally wouldn't allow my younger children read these, yet. I think, IMHO, that the content is more appropriate for 14+. A bit edgy at times, and has heavy themes, along with a few curse words every now & then. Warning: the sexual content picks up considerably in the final book, although it is non-explicit, and is in the confines of marriage. Also, I found that the curse words increased a little with each book. Sad that she couldn't have simply left it out altogether; although I realize Ms. Meyer was trying to draw us a picture of Jacob's (& the other tribe member's) character, and the roughness therein.

Loved it! I stayed up till 1am to finish it in one night! Just as good as the others, but w/ lots of surprises and twists. I thought the conclusion was great. I didn't realize this was the end of the series until I read others reviews. That makes me heartbroken. Although, I am told there is a book in the works telling the story from Edwards point of view so Im excited about that. This book was excellent!

It didn't take me long to finish this one. I did not love it. I did not hate it. I will first say what I didn't like. The plot line is to drawn out for what you see is obvious and coming. So honestly it makes it a little weak. You can see everything coming as it comes, and go "Oh right so that what its going to be" I don't like when I can see that in a book. The religious undertones are pushed a bit hard in this one as well. In my opinion.

However, that being said. I did the action. I did like that we got to meet some new characters and see some interesting twists. While I knew the character who leaves wouldn't ditch her family, I was surprised when she came back how it all wrapped up. But that was the only surprise in the book. The rest was rather predictable.

I also personally wouldn't let the intended YA audience read this one. Its a bit to...bloody, and filled with innuendo. While that was enjoyable to me as an adult. I would not let a kid read it.Over all, While I enjoyed the Saga as a whole. and am ..obviously a fan of Twilight. Breaking Dawn is my least favorite of the set. But still not a bad..book.

Wow! A great ending to the series. This book was filled with non stop action - and it really took the characters to a whole new level. You can see the progression of how the characters have grown up and dealt with a new set of choices.

I am usually good with figuring out what is going to happen in a book, but this one kept me guessing. I wasn't expecting what happened - but it went above and beyond my expectations! I wish I could say more, but I don't want to give anything away.

This book does have more adult content in it - but nothing over the top - although I would recommend that the appropriate age would be 16+. I highly recommend this book (and the series)!!!!

In the end, everyone gets what they want. I guess that is what we were all waiting for, maybe. It should be more satisfying.

Edward promises Bella she can become a vampire to be with him forever, if she marries him. She wants to have sex before she becomes a vampire. Bella decides to marry Edward to be with him. After the wedding, they have their honeymoon, despite the risks. When she becomes pregnant as a human, they face a threat they didn't know existed.

Jacob gets over his anger at her choice when she becomes sick. And even he ultimately gets what he wants, in a way. He choses to help when a threat bigger than them all comes to town.

It took way to long to tell the second part of the story in the book. We know everything will turn out okay, so get on with the conflict and get it over with already!

Stephenie Meyer has a way of somehow making you feel drawn in to a character that on her own is nothing but a insecure, whiney and just all around annoying person. My favorite part was about Breaking Dawn was that we were finally allowed to escape Bella's head. FINALLY! I'm glad the series is over as I found myself hoping that Jacob and Edward would just give in to being best friends and cut Bella out of the story all together!

I had heard that this book wasn't very good. I am glad that I did read it. It was a nice closure to the series. Good to see Bella finally get transformed. She wasn't the helpless, whiny girl from the previous books. It will be interesting to see how they develop this book into a movie. Will they do it like the book, first half narrated by Jacob & second half narrated by Bella? We will see.

Unfortunately, I didn't love Breaking Dawn, but I did like it. I felt that the book was too long and was a little bit too detailed in certain areas that it didn't need to be. While I enjoyed the ending, it was very convenient and I wished there was a little more conflict. It would have made the story a little more realistic (as realistic as a paranormal book can be). I absolutely hated the resolution regarding Jacob. I thought he got the short-end of the stick and I wished his HEA could have been better. Overall, this was a very good series.

Wow - I stayed up WAY too late to finish this in one sitting, but I'm VERY glad that I did. I enjoyed the conclusion VERY much - oh it was more than a little soap-operatic, but all very exciting, with twists and turns to the plot that I really didn't see coming (e.g., "Nessie"... and the whole fact that Jacob's soulmate turns out to be the daughter of the woman-girl that he has been in love with for two years... like I said, soap opera!). It was certainly entertaining, with new and interesting characters. And I was pleasantly surprised that the major issue of her becoming a vampire was resolved so early on in the book. I also enjoyed Jacob's little section, but it would be interesting to read something of hers that was NOT in the first person for once!

Captivating and left me wanting more. Hated it to end even though I chose to read this at a VERY chaotic time in my life. Stephenie Meyer is truly a blessed writer that makes even the non-visual person feel it and see it as they are reading. I fear the movie will be a disappointment with a LOT to live up to with this masterpiece...Good Luck!

I have read and reread that Twilight series books so many times that I truly feel like the Cullens are a part of my family. I love them as Stephenie loves them, so I was decidedly nervous about the final installment. I must say that Stephenie ended it in a way that I could never have imagined, but OH! what an ending. The twists and turns through out are highly unexpected but absolutely make this a page turner. It gets a little tedious around the last 5 chapters, but over all, this is a phenomenal story. You won't be disappointed.

In this 4th and last chapter of the Twilight series Stephenie Meyer keeps hold of your heart stringing you along until you think you may just burst from all the questions...

Will Bella ever get her true heart's desire and live her happily ever after?

Breaking Dawn Book 1 is picking up right where Eclipse let off (from Bella's perspective anyway). Jacob's perspective doesn't come back until Book 2, so for all those Jacob lovers out there, without giving it all away and saying too much, well, just know...he's not going anywhere. :) Book 3 (back to Bella's perspective) somehow knowing more than you 'know' gets you through the toughest times...:)

And for all those doom and gloomers out there, you'll get your fill.........and maybe, just maybe the best thing, maybe better than you even dreamed for Bella and all those she loves, all her heart's desires will be fulfilled.

I really didn't want this book to end..........

I kept putting it down telling myself......'not too fast'........'take it slow'.........but my impatience prevailed and I stormed through it in less than a day........

I just HAD to know what happened next.....

and I could feel it winding down.......coming to a close and not wanting to let go of those truly heart-felt characters......

'not just yet'........

so, I put it back down again (saving only the last chapter for my morning), and I was glad I did, I gave me a chance to see how everything fits puzzle-perfect...... in this 'happily ever after'.....

Great series.........
too bad they'll ruin it with movie adaptations........

not that I'm complaining, its just that most of them do no justice to what I've imagined them to be...

I did see the preview to the Twilight movie, but have been very hesitant to actually go see it........
seeing Edward look like this teenage actor......I'm sorry, but it just ruined it for me.......

My Edward looks completely different and I just can't get past it...seeing the movie will only confuse the pictures in my mind of the beautiful and powerful story that Stephenie Meyer shared with us......Thanks Stephenie! I only wish it didn't have to end......
I mean, c'mon............forever and ever and ever is a very long time!

Twilight remains my favorite of this series, however Breaking Dawn is a very, very close second! I really like that Meyer's wrote this from 3 points of view: Bella, Edward, and Jacob. The plot twists and turns were wonderful, keeping me interested and reading--it is a long story! Bella really grew up in this series, and I enjoyed that very much. Jacob too, grew up, and I loved Meyer's development of his character, and his importance in the story. Alice had been a character that I enjoyed in the past books, and the feeling that she was an important character really came through in the end! Rosalie, my least favorite grew in my estimation when she became the protector of Bella. All in all a fantastic ending to a wonderful series. Don't miss reading this book. I give it 5 stars.
DebraSFleming avatar reviewed Breaking Dawn (Twilight, Bk 4) on + 13 more book reviews
Enrapturing us with her world of moral vampires, Meyer takes us to a place of moral ambiguity and you can't help but go with her and wonder what you would do in this situation. With the character development for the main characters sound and the plot hopping towards an inevitable altercation with doom, she introduces a multitude of new characters which is confusing and very hard to develop in the short time she has to get there.....( the book is 755 pages). Although she does give you a list on page 756 of the covens and their names. I suggest consulting that list frequently as you read so that you can follow the new characters and can understand their relationships with each other and the Cullens. I also thought the end a bit anticlimactic. But that should not stop you from reading what is truly a pretty good novel!

I have mixed feelings about this book. I think the series got a little drawn out after book 2 (New Moon). I read this book super fast both because I was really itching to be done with it and ,of course, because Stephanie Meyers makes for easy reading. Overall, Twilight was my favorite. I can't take anthing away from the series as a whole, but this installment could surely have been cut down by a few hundred pages. I do look forward to reading Meyer's The Host.

I loved this book and the whole series! I couldn't put it down, I read the whole series in less than a week. It is a classic in the making. As a parent I also apprecited how moral it was since it is for young adults. The series is backed by sound morals and family values that are lacking in many YA books. Meyer promotes close family units, no drug use, safe driving, no sex before marriage, etc... Though there is sex in the last book it takes place after Belle and Edward are married which is more than I can say about many other YA vampire series. In fact it is Edward(the male main character) that encourages the abstinance throughout the series which I beleive is an excelent example for young males... one I would love to find in any boy who would date my daughters. All and all loved the books and would recommend them to anyone. They would make a great Mother/Daughter read.

I could analyze the lack of clarity or appropriateness of issues that were brought up in the final book but I really don't think they were a huge problem in the grand scheme of things. The final book wrapped things up, allowed us to remember the positives of the characters and showed an appropriate evolving of the lead character, Bella. I think the most painful part of the last book is that it is the last one. It is the final time we will be apart of some of our favorite characters' lives. I think the final installment was a great ending for a great series and I also think that it doesn't lessen the desire to remain wrapped up in yet another installment.

...maybe she could rewrite them with more graphic descriptions...just an idea... :)

I am a 36 yr old who grew up on Anne Rice in High school, and currently my home collections ports the likes of Laurel K Hamilton, Charlaine Harris, Mary Janice Davidson and Kate McAllister to name a few.
I held off on this book for a long time. I was able to read the first 3 from my library before the phenomenon really hit, and really enjoyed those. When BD was released, there was so much controversy over it- people either loved or hated it- that I was afraid to read this because i was afraid to be disappointed. However with the movies being made, I knew I'd better read it before seeing the movie. Overall, I think it was the most fun book yet. It felt like there was more action, and more going on in this book then in the previous 3 combined. I liked that it seemed that Bella finally came into her own, and all the loose ends were tied up. Without trying to give anything away, I know the solution of the love triangle, regarding Jacob, has been used in another book series before (although I cant remember which one) so that was the only disappointment (albeit small). However, I didn't see that there was a more logical option available to Ms Meyer then that.

Overall, I definitely recommend it.

Probably the best of the series. Lots of suspense and action, with a great deal less of the romantic drama involved in the rest of the series. The number of times Edward is compared to a god, decreases to a nearly tolerable level.

Well written revealing plot lines in a very enticing manner. You get glimpses of what might happen allowing you to guess the track, only to find out it's not exactly what you thought. Very enjoyable read.

The fourth and final chapter of Stephenie Meyer's TWILIGHT series is sure to please readers.

Bella has a tough decision ahead of her: eternal life or death. Should she live forever with the love of her life, her fiancé and vampire Edward Cullen? Or should she choose life -- and maybe her best friend who is completely in love with her, Jacob Black -- and face death that will eventually come?

That is the big decision that Bella faces, but of course the road down the path to the outcome isn't easy. Many events happen that alter Bella's life forever, leaving both the reader and Bella dazed.

BREAKING DAWN ends the series very nicely. Throughout its seven-hundred pages, the reader is engrossed in the drama and action-packed tale of an ordinary girl in a pseudo-ordinary world. The reader should be cautioned that fits of increased heart rate and frustration might raise the desire to hurl the book across the room while reading this last installment of the very popular series.

While some could argue that there is simply too much "drama" -- so much at times that it seems another book may have been of better benefit to the readers' health -- the book is nevertheless entertaining and delightful.

I'm sorry, I really tried to get into the series (read 3-1/2 books) but the last one d-r-a-g-s on so. By the end of the first half of the book I just put it down, aware by that time I didn't care how the story was resolved. I can count on one hand the number of books I've simply stopped reading. Some of the secondary characters were interesting but couldn't carry the series. Maybe I'm too old for this genre; Bella's dithering and uncertainty about anything other than that she loves Edward grew excessively aggravating.

Wow! Unbelievably believable! If you've ever seen one of my reviews...it's a rarity for me to be this enthusiastic...I'm actually not even sure if I've rated a book 5 stars before.
I'm a little shocked that the first few reviews (scanned waiting for the page to load) were negative. Personally I didn't even want to like the first book, but I couldn't stop reading. The 2nd book was just as good. The 3rd book I found slow, but still worth reading (not alone, mind you...). And this was fantastic!
So, some details. Bella so totally comes into her own! You get all the enjoyable 'happily ever after' AND you get lots of drama...it's well written, it's poignant, I laughed out loud, I cried (okay, only once...but still), my heart raced with excitement...what more could you want! And if you love Jacob...he gets his love, too!
And there's more! Completely new twists...some even might catch you by surprise! With lots of possibilities to write more in the future...so many interesting characters with their own interesting stories.
Wishlist it, but don't wait...get on the wait list at the library; it's so much faster!

It was a little over 750 pages, and answered most of the lingering questions from the first 3 books. Do you hear from Jacob Black? Was there a wedding? Does Bella become a vampire? All were answered! Worth reading!

This is the last book in the series. This book like the other 3 books was fantastic. You become so involved in the story! It was wonderfully written and very addicting. I was sad when it was done.

Very sad to see this series come to an end. Every word in this book is just as good as the first 3 books...a good page turner.

I loved the first one so much I went and bought the rest. This one was one of my favorites, I loved the fact that Jacob finally found someone to love, I loved the fact that he stayed within the "family" Bella finally gets her wish and turns and her life is wonderful. I loved this one as much as the first. A must read if you read the others. I did want one more book. I want to see what happens to "Nessie" and "Jacob" would love to read a spin off of them. To me this is a great book. The best of the series. I read them all in 4 days.

As a huge fan of the Twilight series, I was very excited to read Breaking Dawn. I was enthralled through the novel, but was quite disappointed by the ending. I felt like I'd been sold short. As with the other novels in the Twilight series, this book is a quick easy read. It is not literary greatness, but definitely enjoyable for those of us who like a little escapism once in a while. Again, I felt cheated at the end, like the author had taken the easy way out, but otherwise, a very entertaining novel.

Definitely the worst book of the series. I pretend it doesn't exist and that it ends with Eclipse! Don't even bother reading it!

Read this as a horror book, and suddenly it becomes much more enjoyable. All those 'adult' themes turn into ominous scenes of entrapment and/or gory violence. As a horror story, I'd give it three stars for effectiveness. (A year later, and some of the gorier 'adult' scenes are still horrifically clear in my mind).

That said, it's still pretty incoherent. I agree with the many other reviewers who said that the book felt unpolished -- full of Deus ex machina plot devices, weirdly unrecognizable characters, and embarrassingly bad dialogue. Although I enjoyed the first book in this series (in a 'trashy romance' way), I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Unless you are planning to get a group of friends together and play some kind of badfic-related drinking game.

It was a great ending to the series. This was was much more fast paced, less whining and drama from Bella, and you will really love the way she turns out.

I enjoyed this as much as the previous Twilight series books. It was well worth the anticipation and wait. Meyer doesn't lose steam with her subsequent books in the series, she delivers a great reading experience for adults and teens. I had to get one for each of the girls to add to their collection and it was great to get it on Paperback Swap.

**************SPOILERS!! DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!!!*********************

since im reading the entire saga at once and the books are starting to run together im going to review it as i read it.

breaking dawn is the first book in the saga that i am reading before seeing. i prefer it this way, so far. i like being able to imagine it my own way instead of having some filmmakers view of the characters/scenes/etc. in my head.

Book 1- Bella
the book starts with bella and edwards wedding. i have to say, it got a bit cheesy too teen romance for me. a wedding? really? it just kind of went a bit too far for me. a bit much- too fairytale-ish.
then it moved on to their honeymoon and the first time they had sex. for me- this is where the book started getting good. i already knew that they were gong to have a baby (a friend accidentally spilled the beans) but i didnt think it would be so early on. im really excited to see where this is going.

Book 2- Jacob
so throughout the rest of the books up until now, i haven't really liked Jacob. he's been to childish for me. ive wanted to like him, and ive liked his chatacter in the movies, but...
loved love loved getting his perspective! FINALLY!! we get insight. we get the wolf side of him.
this chapter was so exciting for me and i had a really really hard time putting it down. so much going on- such intensity. no more baby Jacob.
i was on the edge of my seat with everyhting going on- bella getting worse, the wolf pack splitting up, jacob taking over, edward and jacobs relationship- where was it all going?
bella finally had the baby at the end of this book..and of course her human life ended.
can someone kill rosalie already?
and whats with jacob and the baby?

Book 3- Bella
Ugh. After reading this final part of BD, i really wish i hadnt picked up the book and had just made up my own ending. it was too cheesy for me.
first off- i saw the whole jacob imprinting on renesme before it happened. i ran into my sister's room and begged her to tell me that i was guessing wrong. it was just...to sappy for me.

then when the volturi came to judge the cullens i thought- yes! a war! some action! fighting!!!..or not. a little confrontation, they leave, la di da life is grand. i wanted some drama! some killing!

instead, they all live happily ever after. boo.

The fourth and last installment in the Twilight series concludes the whole series with Bella finally giving in to marry Edward and her getting pregnant on their honeymoon, But what wasn't known to be possible happened and Bella bears a half human, half vampire girl she names Renesmee. Bella is also changed into what she chose to be: a vampire.

But these changes affect not only the Cullens' and Bella's family, it also affects the wolves pack, especially Jacob. Other threads involve themselves as well.

Breaking Dawn with its 700= pages was a piece to read, especially at parts that were just too long and made me wonder how the capability of writing page after page with the same over and over again just using different words is called. There were parts that I think are excruciating to read just because they don't seem to end, like f. e. Bella's pregnancy. Although she got the child in a manner of a few weeks it felt much longer for the reader to get through that part.

Surprisingly I liked the part from Jacob's view. A style that wasn't used by Meyer in the previous three books.

I didn't like the fact that our Bella got everything she wanted. No sacrifices at all, besides as a vampire she lost all her "bad" characteristics. No problems at all. That certainly helped finding the book exciting.
The Renesmee - Jacob relationship made me choke. Seriously ?

To end this painfully, most certainly spoiling review, I'd like to end that if Meyer would have read Wuthering Heights she'd never have used such an ending. Why she felt the need to mention Wuthering Heights more than once in her books is not understandable to me.

In the end there was no drama. All is well, happily ever after - no.
This particular way of writing a conclusion so many people waited for shatters dreams. Not mine but others I now have to feel bad for.

Though I enjoyed the first three books more, I think Breaking Dawn provided a satisfying end to the series. There were certain elements that were left open for a possible future continuation, but the majority of the story was brought to a comfortable closure. It was worth the time I spent reading it.

I can see why this book has had such mixed reviews but I personally think Meyer did an excellent job of tying up loose ends and giving the readers what they wanted- more Bella, Edward, and Jacob. I loved the final book being told from several points of view. I just love that Nessie is going to be Jacobs soul mate. Gives an opening for future books with a whole new supernatural angle. You definitly have to have read the earlier books in order to enjoy this final saga of the Twilight story. I can't imagine trying to figure out what was going on without having the background on everyone. Now off to read her new "adult" book "Host".

Horrible book, much worse than all of the other horrible books in the 'saga'. She probably disappointed all of her fans with this pathetic last installment.

i love that this book is wrote from three different character point of view (bella, jake, and edward.) I read alot of review online before i was able to buy the book saying that it was very graffic, which its not (thankfully). I love the book however I don't like the ending...it seems to just drop off (at least to me). I still cant wait for the Twilight movie to come out though.

In my opinion i absolutley loved this book... it is one of my favorites now... the love between Edward and Bella is so amazing you can't help wanting that kind of love for yourself... there were quite a few "tear jerker" moments and I'll admit I cried a little...

**SPOILER BELOW**

I was shocked to find out Bella gets pregnant and gives birth to a baby girl (Renesmee) and also the fact that Jacob ends up imprinting her. I was not expecting that at all because Bella mentioned several times in the previous books that she didn't want children. I kinda hope that Stephenie Meyer (sometime in the future) writes Renesmee and Jacobs story...
