This was my first book by David Bell and it was just what I needed. I've been in a reading slump for some time now but this book grabbed me right off the bat. I hate to admit it but I guessed the culprit early on and even that didn't blunt my desire to keep reading. Excellent character development; several twists which added to the suspense and a realistic sense of place. Highly recommend!
Wins me over all the time; short chapters, gripping and suspenseful mystery about two teenage girls beaten and left for dead.
This is the story about Summer, the girl who lived, hospitalized and bandaged head to toe as her loving father and his supportive sister at her bedside. It is also the story of Summer's best friend who died and her devastated family.
Then a unexpected turn around had my head spinning and the book never left my side until I finished. Another win for David Bell!

Good reading and a good mystery but I did feel the major twist was a bit hard to believe in this day and time. I also figured out the culprit early on but there were other things at play that I didn't have figured out. Regardless, it kept me turning pages and I had to know what happened. I did feel it was a satisfactory ending.
